Clutch upgrade
« on: September 29, 2015, 11:04:07 PM »

I'm going to a 113 CI motor on the CVO Streetglide  and looking at a VPC. do they hold up well with the stock 2012 hydraulic clutch. I have heard that they wear out quick.

That's not my experience.  I've used a VPC for about 7 years now with no issues at all.  With my 120r motor for the past 4 years...   :2vrolijk_21:

Hydraulic clutch - yes...

For the first three years when using the VPC the clutch was 100% stock.  When installing the 120 motor, I also installed BDL clutch plates and clutch spring...

I'm going to a 113 CI motor on the CVO Streetglide  and looking at a VPC. do they hold up well with the stock 2012 hydraulic clutch. I have heard that they wear out quick.

After running the stock clutch / SE HD Spring on the '09 SERG 117/DD7 for 20k mi. ('could only detect slip when blasting in the upper gears on the street, no dyno at the time)

I decided to bolt on the AIM VP 95 LT (recommended by AIM for my application) retaining the SE HD Spring.

Works great, no drama, no ill traits, no slip on the Dyno.

AIM makes the SE VPC for Harley.

AIM VPCs have a lifetime warranty, no matter where purchased, Amazon was best $ for me.

Baker, S&S, and BlackDiamond-here-has a much stronger 117 than mine  :2vrolijk_21: all recommend the AIM VPC on the stock clutch with the stock spring...

I highly recommend flushing / bleeding the clutch (not that the AIM requires it, just being through when doing a Build)

The Clutch 40k and Comp 20k seem to be happy with HD Formula+ in the primary...

I think he was speaking about the clutch wearing out.. not the VPC..??  But the new CVO bikes not much you can .. add the new AIM SDR or replace the entire set up with your choice of hub/ clutch  . Bandit, Barnett, I run the Barnett with lock up  best of both worlds in my opinion.// but not low cost item. Unless you have a engine that is making big power across the board the more basic items will work fine..

Just Shift, Twist, and Go
Free your clutch hand with the Rekluse automatic clutch for your Big Twin Harley-Davidson®. Come to a complete stop in gear and accelerate without touching the clutch lever. The manual action of the clutch lever is still fully functional at any time, if desired, for shifting and taking off.

Improves Low Speed Maneuverability
There's no need to constantly use the clutch lever in the stop-and-go traffic to prevent stalls. Especially beneficial for heavy traffic situations and crowded bike rallies.

Smoother Engagement
Take off on loose surfaces with more confidence and excellent traction control.

Extends Clutch Pack Life
An Auto-Clutch will dramatically increase the life of your clutch pack, making for less frequent replacements.

Designed For High Horsepower Motors
The Rekluse TorqDrive™ Manual Clutch is engineered to meet the demands of your high performance motor. Where other clutches slip, TorqDrive™ grabs the asphalt, doesn't fade, and puts the power to the pavement.

Clutch Lever Feel Is Uncompromised
The Rekluse TorqDrive™ Manual Clutch will not make your lever feel heavier than stock. In most cases it becomes lighter.

Feel The Torque
Our rEvolutionary clutch pack configuration allows you to feel more torque at the rear wheel. Up to 56% more!

Thin Friction Technology
Rekluse Thin Friction Technology provides performance benefits that you can actually feel! Through innovative engineering and rEvolutionary thinking Rekluse has developed a clutch pack that takes a traditional 18 plate configuration to 31 plates. This increase provides more torque at the rear wheel which is especially effective for highly tuned motors.

Just it installed on a CVO road king. I love it!!!!
