Street Glide FLHX Mufflers
« on: October 15, 2015, 11:57:40 PM »

Does anyone know if a 2015 FLHX street glide muffler is the same as a 2009 street glide? Looking at my 2009, it appears that they look the same and should be an exact fit. I have an opportunity to buy a pair of new take offs at a good price and I would like to move on them if they are an exact fit.

Thanks in advance.

Didn't the '09s have the catalytic converter in the mufflers?  If so, I don't think that's what you want to do.

I am not sure, that is why I am hoping that someone on the site has run across this and would know the answer.

I was unaware that the cat would be in the muffler, as I know that it is in the merge section on later years.

I would say no to the cat in the muffler on the 49 state legal bikes, not sure on CA bikes.

In 09, the only bikes with cats were CVO's and they had it in the head pipe not the muffler.  I believe all CA bikes had cats in 09 and in the head pipe not muffler.

You would be correct.

In terms of fit, the mufflers are identical. There has been a slight change to the interior baffles but nothing significant.  In 2009 as now, the catalytic converter is in the collector portion of thhead pipe.

Thanks everybody that has posted comments to my question. I bought a new take off set from a 2015 Street Glide and they fit and work perfectly. The sound appears about the same and it is nice that they are a direct fit.
