I am considering taking a new position with my job that is going to move me from Pa to Offut AFB next summer.  I have searched for Indys and on dealers in NE.  The searches do not show a lot of positive response.  Looking for any input on Indys within 3 hours of Offut AFB.

I live near Offutt and Mike @ Black Rose Machine has been in the game for 30 years and does a great job. The guys at Loess Hills HD have done well for me on my new stuff under warranty. Bob @ Butterfields M/C parts has a nice store with lots in stock for new and old scooters.

Sounds to me like the "kid" has you covered for some good sources.  If for any reason, you need additional sources,  I can possibly obtain some others.  Born and raised in Omaha and lived there for over 35 yrs.  Attended college there too and still have some old riders buddies that live there still.

I could get some recommendations from them if need be.

If by "Indys" you are referring to Indian Dealer there is one at Dillon Brothers in Omaha. You are not going to find an abundance of twisties around here but it does have some decent riding. You will find endless miles of black ribbon to explore. Check out the Loess Hills online is you are interested, that's some of the best around here. You aren't that far from Colorado, Arkansas, South Dakoda, etc if you are up for a long weekend trip. There are some good Associations if you want to join a group.

look me up when you get here, i got an indy that dose some good work. he is in the middle of moving now. the loess hills area has some good riding, witch is just across the missouri river from offutt

Duh, Indy=Independent Mechanic. Takes me some time but I usually get the drift after a brick hits me. I know a guy that does good work up in Logan, IA. He's a crazy MF'r, into a bunch of cool stuff.

NP thanks for the note. I will be looking you guys up next spring summer. We are planning a house hunting trip in March.

Papillion is my first choice if you want closer to base but a really good community. It has scored high in the various ratings of city's. Good schools and good shopping. Cost of living is a little higher than the other cities but that is to be expected for what we have. La Vista is good also but will run out of room to grow in the next couple of decades. If you are wanting an acreage then you will want to look south of the Platt River or east of the Mo river in IA. There are good things about IA as far as taxes go. A guy I know moved to Logan IA and when he turned in his NE tags he got enough back from the remaining 6 mos from one car to pay for two cars for a year. Nebraska doesn't collect sales tax at the point of sale on automobiles (strange I know) and they do some sort of weird depreciation from the MSRP calculation that no one really understands. You will get your breath taken away the first two or three years you get your vehicle registration and see the amount!

thanks for the additional input.  I have looked at IA and Papillion.  My wife will be working in Lincoln and I will be at offut.  I need to find out if my wife will be able to work at home.  If she can we will be closer to Offut. If she has to drive to work, we will split the comute.   Thanks again!
