Naviextra Toolbox and reading USB sticks
« on: October 21, 2015, 04:27:45 PM »

Hi all need some help, have a 2015 CVO SG, and I cannot get the Naviextra toolbox to read the "Fingerprint" from my bike. I have loaded the 1.91 software so I don't think its a problem moving data to/from the bike to the USB or a compatibility issue with the USB Sticks and the bike just the Toolbox and the USB sticks.

Ok so I have tried 2 different USB sticks 1 a 64GB and the other a 16 GB.  I follow have read and watch all the info on the web page and in the Boom manual on how to get a Fingerprint.  I am able to get a fingerprint on both sticks.  On both stick when I plug either of them into my PC Tool box fails to connect and I get a pop up message saying there is map data but I need to open and close toolbox. I must have done every combination of having USB sticks in PC then open toolbox, open tool box and then inserting the USB sticks every time I get the popup and tool box stops responding till I remove the USB stick. I have gone back and downloaded he latest version of tool box for Win 10, so not sure what I am missing.

Anyone broken the code on how to get toolbox to read the USB and connect?

i may br wrong on this but i saw somewhere that the usb sticks need to be formatted to only a few formats to work correctly on the bikes end. i knew one was FAT 32. i stuck out to me b/c its a very old fashioned format that i use to get an external hard rive to work efficiently with my home tv to play movies on... hope this helps but check into it.

Hi

What computer are you using?

I initially had this problem on my Apple but when I switched to Windows to download and upload the software I was fine.

Windows 10 Machine. I reformatted the USB Stick so going to try that today see if it fixes the issue if not I'll let everyone know.

Ok still no love from Naviextras Toolbox.  Reformatted my USB Stick to FAT32 like some have suggested and Toolbox will not read the USB stick:(

Still getting the pop-up box that says there is Map info on the stick, but I need to remove, start and exit toolbox. Tried that and just the pop-up again.

Guess I am going t have to live with my Garmin 550 till I get back to the states :(

I had to reinstall the navi toolbox before it would work correctly. It asked me if I wanted to reinstall the same version, I did and then it worked fine. I formatted to fat32 also. Good luck.

You are trying to get the fingerprint from your bike not the pc correct.
Also I don't think you can have any files on the stick when you are trying to export the fingerprint from the bike.

I reread your post and it looks like you have exported the fingerprint to the usb stick.

When you open toolbox then log in to the web site. Then chose your
harley device then plug in the usb stick there is a icon that should change at the top of the page

14 CVO,, yes I got the finger print from the bike. I am now trying to get Navi to read the stick so I can get any updates and possibly change my NA maps to Europe ones seeing how I am stationed here in Germany. Ok Ill try logging on to the Navi Site, like you suggest I have not tried that step yet.

Yes  I think that  should work because the fingerprint gets authenticated on the web site
it will then have update NAVISYNC and then you can look for and get your maps.

After uninstalling and reinstalling navi toolbox, I also had to restart my computer before it would work.
