Lurking for Years and Years
« on: October 29, 2015, 06:49:28 PM »

OK, bought a new 2015 RGU CVO August 4, 2015..... Happier than a pig in Snot.
I have owned several H-D's.... First new one was in 1974. Last bike was a 2011 RGU. Here is my question Recently saw (something ref to Roadking top speed). I want to know, ONLY about late model CVO's 110ci STOCK MOTORS with Stage 1 and tuners. QUESTION... how fast is the top end speedometer reading and or GPS if available. I will add, my dear old departed Daddy used to say people will lie about fishing and gas mileage. So top speed per speedo and  or GPS. If you lie maybe someone will call you out. Will post mine after a couple of days.

If it has a stage one then it's not a stock motor.  Stock they don't come with a stage 1 and that's not a lie. :nixweiss:

Top speed isn't what matters......it's the guy that gets to top speed first that wins the race and that's not a lie, either.   :P

I can say this for sure... the fastest I ever got my '05 Heritage up to was 105 and I thought I was going to crap my pants. And yes it was downhill.

No idea how fast the RGU will go, I've had mine up around 100 without it breaking much of a sweat nor did it make me feel like I was going to soil myself.  :2vrolijk_21:

'11 FLTRUSE @112mph GPS and 120mph speedo and I'm a big big boy. Come to NM if you can't find a local piece of barren asphalt. :)

Thanks, acfixer and DesertHog. I have ran this one several times up to 110 mpg (speedo) but yesterday took the opportunity to do a fifth gear roll on! On a level ground and just see what it would do for the amount of road I had. I will say smooth as glass as was my '11 RGU that I had. Speedo indicated a couple of hairs above the 120 max on the speedometer, maybe 121 or 122. If on down hill or a tail wind or pushed off a building might could have picked up a couple of more. My whole reason(s) for asking are my '11 RGU would get to a little over 116ish but was like pulling teeth. This bikes seems to be much easier to get to those numbers above 110 than my '11 RGU (103ci). My other reason for asking is a buddy with a batwing '14 103ci motor with a cam says his speedo indicates "123 or 124 mph". In time will report back as how they both do at the "same" time.
As for the guy who says a stage one is not stock.... keep splitting hairs. When I started working at a Harley dealership in 1971(for 7 yrs.) bikes came from the factory less restricted similar to today's stage one bikes. So in my "mind" I see stage one motors, pipes, air filter and less restrictive exhaust as stock motors. As far as who gets to top end first wins, I tend to agree!. But in places like Maxton, NC (mile) or salt flats it is top speed within a "long" distance not who gets there first. Getting there first or quickly requires much skill among other things. Riding a stock Harley on top end requires lots of luck, minimal skill and some would say a certainly level of stupidity. Thanks guys for the answers, I hope to hear from some more just to get a general idea of some average top end speed.

Stock, and not trying to split hairs......

It's either stock or it's NOT, period! There is no in-between, period.

Stock is the way the manufacturer shipped it, period!

Sorry, can't help.
I have all the criteria (including the gps screen shot you mentioned) EXCEPT for the part about the late model cvo 110.

I was going to get coffee this morning and when hitting the freeway some guy in a Honda car with the loud muffler wanted to give me a go. After leaving him in the dust I merged into the lanes going 105 speedometer and the bike had plenty left. I had my speedo calibrated when Steve did my TTS so it's dead on with the GPS.

Now I agree with the sentiments that a modified exhaust and a well done dyno tuning makes my bike non-stock. No internals have been touched but it's definitely a step quicker now than when I took delivery. But as far as top end goes, it's probably not a whole lot different because after a point it takes a lot of extra ponies to increase the top speed by even 10 mph. I'll bet the bike is good for pegging the speedo and not much more.

Most that thought they "had " to reply to this question, should have read the question before jumping in and slammin the guy. The real question was..stock motor With stage one and tuner. That was what he was interested in hearing about, and from, he already qualified it wasn't completely Stock.  (no internal upgrades, cams etc.) Same thing would have been true if he asked for numbers on yellow bikes only, eight would have jumped in with red, black and blue bikes...just saying

Our bikes are embarrassingly slow. I hit 172 mph on a Suzuki (Hayabusa). The handlebar mounted GPS recorded the top speed.

Totally a none event on the busa. Steady as a rock. and the cost for the bike was just ver $10K.

15 CVO SG Stage 1: I've hit the 105 ish mark no problem. I have never tried to pin the needle, don't think it would be difficult given a stretch of open road.

15 CVO Road Glide Ultra, fullsac head pipe, and fullsac 2.25 cores in the mufflers, with a good tune using the TTS tuner.

I have been over 100mph a few times, never tried to see how fast it would go.  It was still pulling when I got out of the gas.

126mph on GPS (recorded) as I was too busy keeping my eyes on the road.  Speedo only goes to 120mph, and was way over in that direction, but I did not look at it while going that fast.  Seemed to still have a bit of throttle remaining at the grip, but it was like the batwing had hit the limit of it's ability to move the air around the bike.

Stock 110 internals, K&N Filter under the Ventilator, Crusher True-Duals with Open tailpipes, and the TTS Tune for Racing Exhaust and Hot Temperatures.

The road I was on was a mix of downhill grades and long flat straights.  Only maintained at that speed for about 15-20 seconds, but was long enough to record on the GPS as the Maximum Speed.  Getting to 110mph is quite easy, but it gets to be a handful if you try to maintain for very long.  I'm 6ft 2in and 250lbs.
