Used CVO or new Ultra Limited
« on: October 31, 2015, 10:46:49 PM »

Which one should I buy:

1. 2016 Ultra Limited for $23,300
2. 2013 Ultra Classic CVO for $27,700 w/2800 miles in like new condition

Going to the dealer to take one of them home.  I honestly don't know which one.

I've always loved the CVOs.  But the 2016 is a great price.

Thoughts?

I agree with GregKhougaz.
Which ever stands out the most to you.
Don't wait, I just made that mistake.
I'm on a 2015 cvo limited but would've been on a 2015 blue cvo street glide,
I thought about it for 10 mins., called back to take the deal and it was sold.

I would go with the Ultra for $23K. Nice bike and lots of options to make it "yours".  And I think $27K is way to high for th 2013 CVO. I always prefer new ower used if I can afford it.

Go Rushmore, IMO. (2014 and later)

Better handling - More rigid forks.
Linked brakes with ABS
Significantly better saddlebag hinges and closure system.

You could always wait until someone trades in their 2014 CVO Limited...  :coolblue:

Look at what you like about both bikes.  If you like all the options on the CVO compare them to the Limited.  If you end with the only advantage to the CVO is the 110 motor, then I would take the limited.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

Your comments really helped me decide.

In the end, the only real value to me was the 110" motor, and I believe luc.who is correct...I'm taking the limited.

There are a lot of nice additions to the CVOs beside the 110" motor.  But with $4k savings you can upgrade the Limited quite a bit.  And there is the rub for us CVO owners - when comparing a 2-3 year old CVO vs a new bike with Rushmore upgrades and full factory warranty it really lowers the resale value imo.  My local dealer and his sister stores have had a bunch of pre-owned CVO models sit on the floor for months and months.  I love my CVOs but I don't think they hold their value very well.

I love my CVO.  And the Rushmore bikes just don't have big enough improvements (at least for me) for me to race to get one.  Maybe next anniversary and if they put a 120 in them, maybe.

Personally I buy used CVO's, but that is what makes me happy.  Got to please yourself.

Agreed, I'd prefer a Rushmore to a pre-2014 CVO , unless the CVO was too good to be true.

Rushmore bikes has the best ABS brakes in the industry. The 2013 CVO has the crappiest ABS brakes on any vehicle. Not that ABS is needed and if I had the 2013 I would disconnect the ABS.

Only way I consider the 13 CVO is if the price is under $20K.
