Gudgeon pin dimensions (In American = Wrist pin I believe)
« on: November 08, 2015, 08:42:48 AM »

Info please
Trying to prepare as much as I can for the stripdown (110ins CVO Ultra Roadglide 2011). I want to make a mandrel to push out the gudgeon pins. Does anyone have the dimensions for the gudgeon pin. OD/ID and length. OD and ID need to be accurate.
Thanks

When I took my engine apart, After removing the cir-clips from each end, I found I could push the piston pins out with my little finger.

If they are a bit tight , easy to make a puller out of 1/4" bolt , 6" long or so , and use a length of pipe or a socket with ID slightly greater than the pin , to pull it through the piston.

The pin will not stick in the rod its the piston that holding it tight.. Small amount of heat will expand the piston the pin will slip right out.. They make universal pin pullers for low dollars. Motion pro has one.  In the hd world though its not that big of an issue.  I heat them on the under side and problem solved.

A high quality piston that is sized correctly, will allow the wrist pin to float thru the wrist pin bore.

Unless you bogger up the groove, and bore removing the cir-clip.
