New Member With Exhaust Question
« on: November 13, 2015, 07:08:55 AM »

New CVO owner. I just got a 2016 Road Glide CVO and was wondering what would be the best exhaust upgrade to do? I do not want it so loud that you can't hear the radio, but when I roll on the throttle I want people to take note.

You may want to do a search on/and read about Fulsac here on the site.

Fullsac.

Run his head pipe which goes under factory chrome.  Then decide which one of his baffles, the 1.75, the 2 or the 2.25 inch.  The smaller the quieter.  Then get the TTS master tuner from him and a map to down load to the bike.

Very hard to beat the above.  It can be improved a bit if you know a good tuner to fine tune the canned map.

Fulsac with 1.75 core is great a bit louder is the 2.0 kit I would not suggest anything larger baffle wise.

V&H or Kury X head pipe with Crusher mellows great sound and not loud at all ..  Louder muffler is the Crusher ( non mellow) DO NOT USE MAVERICK series mufflers

Rush 2.0 mufflers are louder but not obnoxious..

Stay with a X or H head pipe.

And of course a good flash type tuner for the ECM  TTS PV etc

A few of us around here have gone with:  Cobra header, into Vance & Hines Monster mufflers, using Harley Race Tuner. May not get the biggest numbers, but I'm happy with the great low-end torque and REALLY low/bass rumble. Just right at highway speed, nice bark when I get on it, and a soft touch leaving the neighborhood has kept the natives from getting restless (so far).

I run the Fullsac DX pipe with the 2.25 muffler core. I ride a 2015 CVO 110. I like the sound BUT Steve at Fullsac said I am giving up a little low end torque with the 2.25 muffler core. I also bought the TTS Master tune from Fullsac with a Fullsac down load.

I run the same set up that cvostu runs.  I have an S&S 124HC in my 08 so I had to remove my oil pan to put the 09 oil pan that Steve from GMR recommended.  A little drilling and tapping for the bracket and it fit fine.  Far superior to the Bassani Road Rage for sound plus I could check my oil without getting my hand burned.   If time wasn't an issue I would have looked into the Fulsak set up.  I would choose between those two for power & sound.  Steve @ Fulsak has helped many members on this site.

Vance and Hines Power Duals headpipe and stock mufflers right now. Little quiet. Going with Monster rounds or Ho out put rounds in spring.
(V&H makes the Kury pipes above) had the Kury truck at Myrtle Beach last year confirm this. Change in heat shield only.

Does Fullsac void any warranties. I did not want to modify stock pipes or mufflers if I ever traded it in on a new one I wanted to put the stock system back on.

Depends on dealer.

With the Fullsac you would be able to put the stock head pipe back on, and use the stock mufflers with the fullsac baffles you put it to have it look like stock.  The baffles are not much money at all.

I know a few people who have done just that, and then put the old fullsac head pipe on the new bike under the factory chrome, and just add new baffles to the new mufflers.

Did Steve recommend using a smaller core to improve low end?

The 1.75 and 2 inch cores have more low end torque but the 2.25 and 2.5 are REALLY loud. Loud is subjective and I am old so take it for what it is worth. ;D

I'm running a Fuelmoto 2-1-2 head pipe which came off my prior bike and Fullsac 1.75 baffles.  Its a little quieter than I'd prefer around town but pretty nice out touring.  The FM head pipe is basically an x-pipe and not too different than Fullsac.  Its Stainless Steel/ceramic coated so thought it was worth my time to change the old bike back to stock prior to trading and move the FM head pipe to the CVO.
