Wind Deflectors between batwing and lowers
« on: November 24, 2015, 05:24:24 PM »

Hi.  New to the site.  Just bought a 2013 CVO Ultra.  Is there a company that makes the wind deflectors that covers the gap between the batwing and the lowers?
Thanks

I am looking for something like I had on my streetglide ftom street-glide.com.  they mount under the turn signal mounts and run parallel to the forks.  I have the wings under the batting and the baffle under the fairing.

Wonder if they work with lowers...I looked at the gallery...yep they do.

Significant increase in wind/rain protection?

If the touch the crash bars you can bet they will hit the lowers also not good for the paint.

Now that's out there, I agree whole heartedly.  But hey, sometimes function over form works.  Don't know if they work though.

It almost reminds me of the Shovelhead Electra Glides that had all the flat chrome on both sides of the bike to cover up all the bike parts.

I had a set on an 07 SERK and they work ok and they are ...........well ugly. One thing to consider. The faster you go with these on the more difficult it is to steer the bike. At 100 its impossible to lean the bike. Don't ask me how I know.

You want the ones from HD ... part#57400146A. The ones from street-glide.com and JES Custom Accents are both fugly and more $ than the HD ones ... hard to believe but true. I just put a pair on my bike and LOVE them! Mine are mounted as far back as the holes in the bracket allows and DO NOT touch at full lock left and right so no need to bend or tweak them. You will need blue masking tape, 2 1/8 holesaw, a couple round or curved files and a dremel with some sanding drums.

Start by taping both up completely so you don't scratch them up accidentally and also protect the finish from shavings/chips while drilling. Now lay them both face down (concaved side) and measure 2 3/16" from flange and 1/2" down from top edge at your 2 3/16" mark and punch both good so your bit doesn't walk. I drilled a couple smaller pilot holes before breaking out the holesaw. Now just bore through with the holesaw nice and slow. Once you're through you can shape up your cuts with the files and final polish with your dremel. You could dab some silver/chrome paint on the edge but I chose not to since it would be a pita to be neat about it. I instead polished the edges real nice, waxed them and will keep an eye out if I see surface rust starting to form it will clean off easy.
