Infotainment Audio Upgrade
« on: November 30, 2015, 05:03:17 PM »

I have a 2015 Road Glide Ultra CVO. I'm looking to upgrade the AMP and speakers. Just found out I only have the Harley flashes to work with? I was looking at getting the ARC Audio 600.4 amp and their 6.5 and 6X9 speakers. Is there really a need to get a top of the line amp if I can't add an equalizer and make adjustments. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

IMO it's all a waste of money when your tooling down the road at 70mph or slower if you are wearing a full face.  If the bike is parked in the garage and your wrenching or doing some other project in the vicinity the investment will sound great.

This does not answer your question but I might be able to save you some money. I also live in Santa Monica so I can demonstrate this for you.  You didn't mention what kind of helmet you wear. I wear a half helmet most of the time and a three quarter on long trips. When I wear the three quarter, I'm usually listening through the earphones.

You might want to try the No Noise Motorsport Earplugs.   When inserted properly, they really do filter out road noise, motor noise and wind noise but the music sounds great. They can be ordered through amazon.com.  I used to use foam earplugs in but they tend to silence everything.  Just a suggestion.

True, you won't get full equalizer control, but a quality system (like arc) will give you clear sound at highway speed. I have the arc 125.2 (not nearly as much oomph as the Moto you are looking at) and a pair of focal speakers in the fairing.  Harley flash (done by HD with setting instructions from the Audio installer) with a proper tune on the amp (done by the audio installer) gave me great sound.
I am very happy with my system from Soundz, and I listen to it on the road- not just when I'm showing off in my garage ;)

I also agree with GregKhougaz- hearing protection actually helps, IMO, to hear the tunes.

I run the Arc 600.4 amps with Focal speakers in fairing and lids with a Schuberth ff helmet and sounds great and clear.

With that said I will try the "No Noise" earplugs that Greg recommends. Always looking to improve the sound..
