Infused to brag about how well the heated grips worked on my 06. They still work great according to my friend that bought it. However the heated grips on my 09 have died. Shy of the fuse which is good is there a way to trouble shoot them and find the issue?

More then likely the switch went bad that turns them on.  A common problem from what I understand. But you have to replace the whole thing can't purchase just the switch.

If both grips are dead, then probably the switch is bad.  I got lucky once:  only the right grip was bad, and the dealer had a right grip in stock b/c someone had a bad left grip/switch replaced, but not the right one.  So dealer charged me only one-third of the 2-grip cost.  Don't know what first guy got charged.

Hope that's it as I have a brand new LH heated grip that is the same model as mine. Will change out and see if that fixes it.

1. Check the two-cavity electrical connector in the tip of the throttle grip.  The grip has a end cap that snaps off.  Look inside the grip and you will see this connector.  On my 2010 Limited for some reason this popped out.  Use a needle nose pliers to push it back in.

2. Check the fuse and power connections to make sure you got power.

3. If you have an ohm meter....you can disconnect the power leads and check to see if you have some resistance between power leads and ground (make sure you disconnect both power leads.)

Jim your the man. The two pin connector in the throttle grip was the culprit. It must have come unplugged when I had it off the replace the cruise control switch.

Glad you got if fixed....I know that HD grips have a bad reputation...but as for me and the last six years with four sets on four different bikes....they have been bullet proof and dam HOT!

Jim I have always felt the same way, this is the first time I ever had a issue.  I must say that was the quickest fix I ever had to do on a Harley lol.

That was my problem also. I didn't realize that plug was under there. Saved a trip to the dealer! Thanks for posting this.
