King YUGO?
« on: January 27, 2007, 05:04:00 PM »

I was talking with a man today at the dealership and we got to talking about the 2007 CVO's. He said they have been nicknamed "YUGO's" because of their frequent cosmetic and mechanical problems. That is the first I have heard them called that. Not quite a compliment. Anyone else heard this?

No, tell him to keep it up there. Sounds to me like it's where it belongs.

Me and Beags run into a guy like that here in Dago every so often. Chithead owns four or five H-D's three of them CVO's everything anybody ever stamped an H-D logo onto, several closets full of H-D leathers  one of those $4,500 H-D paintings on every wall of every room of his house. H-D sculptures that cost thousands and his favorite pastime is telling people what's wrong with their particular model Harley-Davidson.

He's just jealous that he doesn't have one himself.  The man obviously has a rectal-cranial inversion and needs to get it fixed.

Most of the time I find people knocking it when they are jealous that they can't have one.
Do you think he'd turn one down if it were offered?  Did you ask what he was riding?  Would have been interesting to know.  Engines/trans are built on the same line as the OE bikes so would have questioned the "mechanical" issues he brought up.  If he's talking about a bubble in the custom paint...has anone actually HAD a custom paint job done?  It's very difficult to fine a truly custom paint job without a flaw.  So please.

The only place I've EVER heard anything negative about the CVO's is on this site. My CVO runs like a bat out of hell, it looks great, it's had Zero cosmetic OR mechanical problems, and I LOVE it! I've trade for three Harley's in one year. This one I'm keeping. I can honestly say all 3 of them have been flawless.

Everything can have issues and our CVO's have had their share.

Reminds me of oil seals in VW product in the 70's, real bitch.  Honda had a worse problem but they took care of it "immediately".  Never got much press.  Maybe for those CVO owners with problems the MoCo could take a lesson from that?  NOT.

Love or leave 'em, the guy should get a crainialrectotomie.

Look at where the CVO's have gone since their inception.  They most certainly have improved IMO.   The MoCo is listening.

Heck, even Rolls Royce has a service department.  If you don't think anything will break down regardless of what you spend for it, your not living in reality.  I love my bikes and I realize that there will be issues with them from time to time.

Exactly!!! If it has moving parts, it WILL have mechanical problems. You simply repair it, and move on.

I am sure no one here is expecting to never have any problems with thier machines. But what sets a company apart and above (or below) the rest is how those issues are dealt with when they arrise. The guys with the paint problems on the 06 SEUC is a prime example. Issues that others have had with engine failures is another. If HD jumped in and admitted they had a problem and took care of the customers that spent there hard earned dollars on thier bikes we would not have anything but praise for the MOCO.

There's an old saying "If it has t*ts or wheels it will give you problems!" No one should be surprised at all! ::) Optimistic that it won't, and not surprised when it does. You ride a Harley, you learn to deal with it! :o Hoist! 8-)

Truer words were never spoken. This site breeds issues. Ever wonder what percentage of '06 SEUC owners ever complained about their paint? Well I was told it was less than 12%! And of those 90% were the direct result of this site. Most owners don't take their bike out into bright sunlight and examine the paint match or mis-match with a high intensity light like some of us did to discover error. Granted some of us have had "REAL" issues with our bikes. Many others have been infected with peer-phobia. H-D builds quality motorcycles. For us or anyone else to say otherwise is a direct reflection on our decision to buy them and eagerly participate in this site. That's just my opinion and yes, I still love being a part of this site.    [smiley=soapbox.gif]
