How odd, i thought if i killed the battery it would deep cycle and re generate however dealer says that wouldnt work .
So this week i have the bike serviced they did their own tests and load test readings apparently were ok ?
Now back in my garage on optimate guess what ? 2 green lights so all is well but , wtf happened ?
Perhaps a poor connection, either to the charging harness or the battery? Assuming a harness similar to the ones used with Battery Tenders, it's a good idea to make sure the connections at the bike harness and the actual charger are clean and tight. I've had occasion to clean and tweak the fit of the terminals in my Battery Tender harness over the years, and I assume I'm not the only one.
Btw, if you "kill" a regular lead acid battery like the AGM Harley battery, as in letting it go completely dead, you will permanently lose a little capacity and more depending on how long the battery is allowed to sit in a discharged or partially charged state. Regardless of the claims made by some charger companies, regeneration of that type of battery is more myth than fact. Having your battery run down once and then immediately recharged isn't usually going to be cause for replacing the battery, but if it happens often don't expect any magic "rejuvenations" to occur. These aren't deep cycle batteries. And most of the Battery Tender style chargers aren't really designed to charge a deeply discharged battery anyway. I'm not familiar with the Optimate you mentioned, but if it's just a low amperage charger like a Battery Tender, and you actually have a seriously discharged battery, you really need a regular higher output charger to do the job.
