A first for us
« on: January 03, 2016, 03:41:50 PM »

My mom is visiting us for a little bit over the holidays and among the sights we showed her was the Grand Ole Opry show at the Ryman Auditoriom Saturday evening. This is her first trip ever to the Nashville area so I figured it would be a good time for us all to see the famous show live. The event was an interesting mix of older and new country music talents.

Apparently a new talent on the country music scene, and quite talented.

A lot of folks in the crowd were very excited when Brad Paisley made an appearance - unannounced - as the closing act.

Except for Brad, sounds a lot like the lineup we saw several months ago. That was our second trip to the Opry. Our first trip there 5 years ago, had my wife in tears. She grew up listening every night with her dad.

I've been in the Ryman twice but never for a concert, just a tour.  It's been a few years but the last time was a self guided romp through the country music cathedral.  Oh the stories those walls behind the scenes could tell.  Glad y'all got to visit the way is should be, with singing.

Did you know that one of our members did a recording at the Ryman?

Yeah Jimmy let the cat outta the bag, which member was it?

It was a great time. Like I told the folks back in CT, I'm pretty sure I caught my wife tapping her foot a few times and she's a die hard rock and roll girl! Mom was thrilled to finally see a performance of the Opry.

We will be going back again for sure.

Next time mom visits it'll be off to Graceland since she's the biggest Elvis fan I know. I would've taken her this trip but I want her to enjoy the gardens and all the rest of the tour.
