Photos Of That Other Kind of Two-Wheeled Bike Stuff... Cycling
« on: January 10, 2016, 10:59:46 PM »

Rather than running the risk of hi-jacking the garage photos thread and creating more work for our under-appreciated mods, I figured I'd just start a new thread.

So, any other cycling or tandem cycling enthusiasts out there?  I'd posted some photos of our garage in a another thread http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=13444.msg1361177#msg1361177 and a few folks took notice of the bicycles hanging from the ceiling in the same bay of the garage where the motorcycles get parked, i.e., the bike bay.  Brother JCZ asked if we had a photo of us riding our 3-seat racing tandem, so I figured I'd just go ahead and come out of the closet as a motorcyclist with an alter ego as a cyclist in this thread.

Perhaps there are others who share our passion for all things with two wheels placed one behind the other??

Thanks a bunch for posting.  Never saw a three seater before.  I'll bet that's a challenge just learning how to get everybody started on on the right foot together.  ;D

I've got a bicycle, too.  It's a cheap one but that isn't what makes it stand out in the crowd.  Not only because it's a 29" full suspension bike (I'm 6'4") but I have it set up for comfort so I've got the spring loaded memory foam broad seat as well as 14" six bend pullback ape hangers.  Just a giant of a bike.  To make it just a tad bit "cooler looking" it's blacked out.  :2vrolijk_21:

Diamant F1 Carbon... Swwweeet!   I only wish we lived somewhere that would give me a reason to have a Fat-Tire bike or tandem.  They're a blast to ride, far more fun that I ever would have imagined before riding one.

Back in the 50's,  I had one almost exactly like this one.  Mine had red side panels and front light cover where this one shows as black.  That leather seat (saddle) was a $7 (option) at the time.

About 850 - $1,500 for an original fat tire Schwinn in good to excellent condition with the correct parts.  As the condition and correctness of the parts falls off, so does the price.

Beware of the 1995 reproduction / anniversary models. They built 5,000 with a msrp of $3000 and it bombed. They continued to lower the msrp as a way of trying to unload them and there are still red and black ones sitting new in boxes.  You'll see people asking $2,000+ for them, but fair market is a lot lower, a LOT lower.

They must have hired one of the marketing mavens from HD to come up with this idea.

Cannondale Synapse.

I use it to cross train for marathons.

I did a duathlon once, that was cool.

Custom painted Trek TTX. This bike will be heading across the Pacific with me in June to take part in the Escape From Alcatraz triathlon.

Proud of my son Michael!

He competed in the Southern Cross bike race in Dalanaga GA yesterday.  50 miles with 6,300 ft. climb in 4 hours 10 minutes!
