can someone explain how HD bore this cylinders since they are out of round? Did anyone check SnS , or other manufacturers ...
Well they're round out of the torque fixture.

He also indicated that was the only steel lined jug he's seen like that

I realize we would prefer perfection but are there acceptable tolerances for out of round cylinders?

Yes. This pic is from the HD service manual for the 110

Well I ordered a 117 kit with just jugs and pistons. This was going in my 14 CVO Limited. I have changed my mine mid stream and I am going with my original 113 build with HD pistons 10.5 to 1 with Zippers heads and TD 24 cams and S&S flywheels with the Timken conversion. I really want to try the 117 build mostly for the added TQ. Maybe I'll hold on to the parts and do the swap next winter. I know we have to try these products and find out what will and what won't work. I trust the vendors on here as they will shoot the straight scoop to us. This problem with the cylinders has me concerned as does the CR. Zippers has my heads right now and I expect them back sometime this week. I guess I should just go ahead and check the 117 cylinders and then make the final decision. I am more concerned about reliability then anything else at this point. I want to ride this bike to Alaska this summer and can't even think about a breakdown. Another reason I am sticking with the stock ECM and SEPRT. I hate being on the fence like this. Keep up the builds and the great posts. I guess like everything else Harley Davidson. TIME WILL TELL.

When I first got this bike I had a lot of issues with it. I did the Fat Kat and T-Man air cleaner ( yes it is big but it works) I had the bike tuned at my local HD shop. I trust these guys and have dealt with them for over 34 years. They had a race program and they still have the same tuner. This bike was 111.7 HP and 123 TQ with just the upgrades I did. I was accused of doing a cam change. I promise the bike was stock, I even took them the cams when I pulled the motor down. Chris the tuner told me I had a Friday Motor. He also told me he did not play with the numbers. Soooooooo I can only hope I get numbers like this when the build is finished. Oh and BTW the bike is a year old and has 23500 miles on it.

Somewhere in one of these 117 threads I thought I saw the CC of the 117 pistons and can not find it now. Anyone know what that volume is?

Lever I have been collecting parts for my 12 SEULTRA. Bought the Limited last May and just figured since I had the parts I would still use them on this bike. I'm itching now to get back on the road and try it out no matter which cylinders and cams I finally decide to use.

Ok Scott   I've been following this thread since day one anxiously waiting for the outcome of your build. Any progress?  My kit arrived Saturday and Im really itching to tear it up but want to see you thoughts on the kit and the cam   As I see things you are the most in tune to these motors and your opinion goes a long way on my choices.  Its obvious that 7 inches is going to create more power but I would gladly drop a few bucks more to get max bang for buck   I think the kit was a good value at what I paid even if I throw the cams in the trash and buy new lifters    I'm looking forward to your results!!!!

My guess for BostonBoys / Steve's (GMR) 117 build.

HP - 127.49
TQ - 139.8
