Chopped Tour Pak w/Armrest Backpad?
« on: October 02, 2004, 06:39:51 PM »

I was at my dealer and saw a 04SEEG and was told It had the chopped pak with a Mustang armrest backpad with a stock seat. I have read alot of threads with the king tour pak and backrest with a Corbin or Mustang seat. I got till after the 1st of the year before I get my little bananna and was making list of must haves. I am already planning on the progressive 440 shocks. I was hoping I could get by without spending that extra money in a king tour, instead use the chopped pak that comes with it along with a Mustang backrest w/FLHRS custom seat. I have heard some using the comfort stitch seat. Would prefer to get it with the matching (passenger) arm backrest. Then I could go ahead and get the spoiler kits for bags and pak. Has anyone used an armrest backpad on a chopped pak? If so what kind? Also are we to use a roadking seat if we replace stock? Appreciate any response! I have learned so much from this site already!

Yes on the Road King seat question.  The "nose" of the seat matches up pretty well.

I changed my stock seat to the comfort stich seat for FLHR's part# 51157-04, CS rider backrest # 52572-03 , and used # 52898-98 for the chopped pack. The CS seat and the tour pack backrest match up pretty well. The CS seat pattern is the same as 2005 stock FLHTCU seat. It is also very comfortable in my opinion. Hope that helps you in your decsion making.

kbiforce, thanks for the imfo. I was planning on using this seat mainly when I'm 2up with wife. I was hoping I could use my stock backrest with C.S. seat. The wife was asking for the backrest with the armrest. I was told I could put one on, but I rather here it from one of you. Thank you......Thank you very much!!!!!!

You can put it on the chopped tour pak but it will set low on her back and you will have to modify the flap that hangs down(it's to long) other than that it should work fine.  don't forget to post pics when done.

I saw a bike yesterday at Plant City Bikefest with chopped pack and large armrest backrest. Backrest sets so low it looked...AWFUL. But then I, like everyone else, have an opinion, so you may like it.  The main downside is that once you put it on, you are stuck because it takes extra holes to mount it and they will show if the large pad is removed and the oe one reinstalled.

Unfortunate that the MoCo decided that they had to make this decision for everyone.  Although ponying up an extra 1k for the King tour pak was an unhappy decision, it was cheaper for me that way, an extra $100 for the chopped PAK??  Hmmmmm.

But these new bikes come with the chopped pak standard, included in the price, and if you want the King pak, you have to buy it separate?  Amazing what they come up with.

Hey JR,

I have a "banana" coming to the UK in Feb/March and one or two of the postings have offered unfavourable comments about the colour.

However, I took my Ultra into a dealer for some TLC this weekend. The bosses daughter had yellow photos from Vegas show.

When I asked her what the yellow was like in real life she pointed to a new HD in the showroom. I was too excited to notice what bike it was but the pearlescant yellow looks superb (very deep and 3 dimentional) and is available to look at on other models now.

Keep in touch.

Regards
Tony

Hey Tony! I saw those same pics and got the same reserve feelings. It wasn't the color I saw in the HD website. When I put my deposit down I told them I would like to see the red before I get the Yellow. Unfortunately red wasn't out yet, so I went with my 1st love...Sunrise Yeller [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] I'm sure those who went with the orange 2nd guessed before they got theres.  Anyway,I too went to my dealer and was able to see the candy red (nice) SEEG. Then he took me in back and saw our sunrise yellow on a sporster and was very pleased!! [smiley=laugh.gif] What can I say...I love yellow! Maybe its because I been around a bunch of yellow the past 30 years, I work for a Caterpillar dealer here in Memphis. Thank ya......Thank ya very much!! Talk at you later Tony. [smiley=beerchug.gif] Cheers     JR [smiley=7.gif]

Have seen the yellow on the Sportsters and at the Sturgis demo.  Liked the color.  Striking even.  That was my first reaction.  My second thought was that I'm not I'd want that bright color staring back in my face on bright summer afternoon as it reflects from the inner fairing.  I think the green ones have the lighter rather than the darker shade on their inner fairing.  Another of things I liked about the red was the inner fairing color was the dark rather than the lighter red.
