Non Bagger cams for a 110
« on: January 22, 2016, 01:27:34 AM »

I understand the need for a healthy torque curve for a Bagger
particularly one that does a lot of two-up or trailer
But for a dyna or softail, i like to see hp numbers up there with the tq

I'd like suggestions for good cams for a 110 or 113 dyna or softail
for a lot of solo, some two up, good open going on highways and able to handle some twisty stuff

Dyno sheets too, if you have them   ;D

98FXSTC, a friend I used to ride with had a dyna  with a 103 kit. He used S&S 585 cams with HD race tuner and his bike ripped. I also had an S&S 107 with S&S 585 cam in my Heritage. It was also very fast for what it was. I would put the same cams in my 09, but it is too heavy. I believe in a light bike the S&S 585 cams will give you plenty of grunt and more top end then you will need. Good Luck CAHDBIKER

Thanks for the replies
I'll check specs and do a search for dyno sheets for both of those

I have Feuling 594's in the FatBob
I have 125hp but tq is down around 118
I was looking for a bit more torque early
but not a left sided sheet like most of the bagger cams

Woods 8's cam
Thanks John
Got your build details somewhere
I spent a bit of time looking at that a few years back
I know Woods cams produce the goods
Supposed to be a bit noisy with the aggressive ramps
None of them have ever got to my part of the country here
I know Hillside like the Woods stuff and they would get them quiet if anybody could
I'll check the Woods site and have a look

Woods 8 a heck of a good cam, but, sounds like marbles in a coffee can.

S&S 585,fuelling .594,woods 7H or 9,andrews 55 or 60 would all be good choices, just make sure compression is matched to each chosen cam

I believe it's in knowing how to set up and adjust your valve train assembly properly

Geometry?
It is a relatively low lift cam, the woods 8.
Chain drive can cut noise a little and the usual fixes rocker lockers, preload, low leak lifters, strong pushrods, and rocker shimming to name a few.

here is our 600 in a 10.5 comp stock head 110 with t/b and pro pipe. If there was just a little work done it would have been even better . But as a bolt in it did a nice job on both sides.  I would not say any cam is or is not a bagger cam as it is all about the complete package.. Hp is about CFM.
