I'll be real careful, they said on the news this evening, our crack meteorologist, that we had a very slight chance of receiving 2 to 3 snowflakes tomorrow. I'm not kidding, he actually said that on TV. So, I will be vigilant and pick them up if they fall.

Why don't you saddle up and head to WV to pick up snowflakes, Mikey?

Might want to bring a really big bag.......

We have not got much yet in Knoxville maybe two inches, north of US the TN / KY boarder got lots and Nashville got hit pretty hard lots of wrecks.

Listening to the news you would have thought the world was going to end here.

How much snow has fallen so far, Gary?
About 12" so far, maybe another 6" to 8" before it's all done... Wasn't as bad as they had predicted and it wasn't the heavy (wet) snow either.

Y'all stay safe and warm. I feel for ya and know it comes with the territory. Facebook was all a buzz with the dumb azzes down here making a big deal out of a few flurries. If they only knew! Hope it is over with up there real soon and things can get back to normal.

You got that right SHRADER, it does take long for a house to become really uncomfortable with no heat source...

Earlier this winter we had 18" of the heavy wet stuff.

No big deal...

But...We have the luxury of all our power lines being buried underground.  I can't remember the last time we had a power outage.  And our counties and our townships and cities each have a slew of snow plows.  And mountains of sand and salt.  Most have large many-horsepower personal snow blowers.  So it's a different "deal" for us than for many of you folks.

Stay home if possible.  Stay warm and stay safe!  Help your neighbors out.  Especially the elderly ones...   ;)

Luckily same for me.... have only lost power a few times and when I did it was for a short duration. While out shoveling several times today have seen some pick-up trucks, a "bobcat" coming thru plowing, and later tonight while having dinner I saw a "VDOT" truck plowing the main roads in the subdivision I live in.

I haven't left (driven) anywhere since yesterday before the snow started... am warm & safe... as it regards the "elderly neighbors"... I/we are that one :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Well... we've lived here for 20+ years... moved in when the subdivision was fairly new... raised kids here (that have grown and moved on)... so... I can say that we are one of two families on this street that have lived here the longest... so... that does make me/us the elderly... I accept it 1000% since I can/do get out there and clean my sidewalk/driveway w/those that are a lot younger than me. 8) I'm just glad that I go to the gym 6 days/week doing cardio. :2vrolijk_21:

I have yet to see one of those down here. I must admit it's a very strange experience for me to sit here a full day after the last snowflake fell and no effort is made at all to clear the local streets or shopping center parking lots. I think the commute to the office on Monday is going to be quite interesting...

Half of our subdivision is underground utilities (our half). But we still get plenty of outages.
Hurricane Sandy, we lost power for 13.5 days. About a week after the storm we had a snowstorm, 12+inches of really heavy wet snow. Took down about 50% of the repaired power lines.

The problem with our area is the substation that supplies us is only a couple of feet above sea level. Sandy brought in a 14' tidal surge and completely flooded the sub station. JCP&L brought in "tractor trailer" sub stations for temporary power (took 13 days to do that) then rebuilt the station. Guess where? Same location.

We were expecting major coastal flooding with this storm, possibly even surpassing Sandy, so the utility ?sand bagged the sub station  :o
