New Kit for tourpak
« on: January 30, 2007, 04:45:55 PM »

Anyone else that the MoCo has introduced a "kit" for doing the quick detach for the tourpack?

It says it's only for the FLHTC, not sure it would work with the SEUC.  We'd still have the amp to deal with as well.

True! It looks to me like the MoCo has taken the parts that everyone is using already and combined them into a kit form. Without looking at it, I can't speak to the fit for our bikes, although the quick detach part sold previously doesn'r specifically address our bikes either.

That kit will physically work for our bikes, but there are some issues. Something has to be done with the amp which is mounted on the rear fender. There is a lot of wires to undo, TP locks, TP lights, Speaker wires, etc. Although the hardware is quick-attach, It's not really fully quick attach. I did it to mine and love it.

One other big feature important for me is to have ability to move the pak to the back a bit on the bike. This one does not offer that. So going back to using the one George producing.

I am already using George's kit and hadn't thought about losing it to go with the detachable.

The kit might be OK if you were going to buy ALL those items idividualy, but.......wouldn't you rather have a layback plate and a digital (hidden) antenna?
 Just my thoughts.

I agree with doing it piece by piece...I don't want to relocate the antenna, I want it hidden, the cb can go away and the amp replacement by Hawg Tunes is the way to go. Some people have asked on this sit if there was a "Kit" to do the changes...now there is.

Rick..that's exactly what I did. I went with the speaker kit in the lowers as well. Sounds GREAT.

Don't get me wrong, the kit has its place. I was just making people aware that it might be better to purchase things indivudually depending on their wants. I went with the new layback #60210-07. There are no fasteners showing at all. The cover hinges over the plate and sandwiches the plate. Two allen screws anchor the frame/cover up from the bottom. This is a real clean piece and its all you need. Other laybacks usually require the seperate purchase of a frame of your choice.

I installed a detachable rack on my SEUC. Couldn't be happier. I also see no reason why Geoge's relocation kit wouldn't work just as well on the detachable rack as it does on the fixed rack. It would just move your tour pak back on the new rack.

It will definately be worth a try. I am glad you like the detachable setup. IMHO it looks really clean.

When I made my tour pak detachable, I also relocated the license plate using a Streetglide turn signal bracket. I just finished installing a Kuryakyn curved license plate frame. Looks very cool and definitely gives a finished custom appearance to the rear. I also went with a digital antenna in the fairing and actually feel I get better reception now than I did with the whips.

Very nice. I was considering doing that but thought that I had to buy the hole kit and since we already have to short light bar, I thought it would be a waste. Never thought about just getting a bracket.
