reupholster seat
« on: February 05, 2016, 04:10:16 PM »

I have touched on this before, the seat on my FLHTCUSE8 is ripping at the seams.  Does anyone know of a vendor that sells replacement covers for the stock hammock seat?  I am very happy with the seat just not a fan of the wet butt after it rains.  Local upholstery shop recommended finding a replacement cover versus a build from scratch.

If yours has the heated seat I think you will find it difficult to find someone to repair it. Professional seat recoverer, who has a good reputation here in the UK, would not touch it. Be interested to see how you get on with the replacement cover, would that come with the heating element embedded?

ffltjeff, regarding your seat. I had the driver portion taken apart and reshaped to meet my needs. Made it a little more narrow at front, and added a gel pad. I went to upholster near my home and sat on the foam after he reshaped it before he reinstalled the leather to make sure it was just right. Everything went together fine and the heater still works. You should have no problem finding a reputable upholster to do this. Just so you know it cost me $450.00. CAHDBIKER

Try Bitchn Stichn in Lakewood Co. They recovered my backrest to original leather and added a heating element. Just like new. You cannot go wrong.
