2015 FLTRUSE Tour Pack Conversion
« on: February 15, 2016, 06:19:36 PM »

My brother-in-law has a 2015 CVO Road Glide Ultra and he's interested in the tour pack conversion kit.  His local dealer said it's possible, but will require pretty significant modifications and hence costs.  True?  Has anyone done this, and how has your experience been?

Thanks for all your advice.

Paul.

Are you asking of a quick disconnect conversion?  If so, see here:  Converting tour pack to Quick Detach.  I have the parts.  I was going to do the conversion but never got around to it.

It is not that difficult to do, also does not take that long once you have gathered up everything you need.  The link Greg provided is to my post on how to do it.  I did it with out using the HD kit as I did not want all those parts and my way was less cash, and the plate mount looks much better.

I can also return it to stock when I trade, and use most all the parts again when I get the next RG Ultra.

I appreciate your info.  Did you run into any difficulty with your rear speakers?  will the system work with just the front ones?

Thanks, Paul

Had to relocate my amp but system works fine...I don't think you have the amp issue with yours...You could always get speaker lids for your bags if you still wanted rear speakers.

I have the same bike. How did you take the pack off and relocate the amp to? Looks real good. This is the first 2011 RG I've seen like this. would like to do this to mine. I live in FL so riding year round.

I originally had the amp in the right saddlebag..theres plenty of wire and the lid still closed...I got tired of it being in the way so I fabed up a couple brackets and mounted it behind the bag...Check out this thread.

Are there any license plate options for keeping it under the tour pack (other than the taillight mount)?

I like the way the older bikes mounted the license plate to the side rails on the detachable tour paks.

Cheers!

Was just talking to dealer (stealer?) and tech there said the boom infotainment throws a code when rear speakers are not present, any issues with this that you know of?

I have never had a code thrown for the tour pack rear speakers not connected.  I know several others that remove theres like I do, and none of them have had a code.
