CVO Speaker Upgrades, how about the Kappa's?
« on: March 02, 2016, 09:36:09 PM »

Ive got a 15 Road Glide Ultra. The CVO stereo is certainly better than stock but I like somewhat better. I don't want to do a complete new amp, speakers and wiring. Can I get some better performance from just changing speakers? Infinity Kappa's have been suggested.

Try it an let us know. I personally see nothing wrong with the OEM units.

We all know that the sound that is produced is coming from the quality of the amps, not the speakers.  The new Boom set up deals with this issue rather well. Having the separate amps driving the speakers is the real deal. For a Good change, the MoCo has made great steps in something.   Don't think you are going to get anymore sound or should I say Clean power sound from what you already have without changing your entire  stock set up.  I agree with CVODON, nothing wrong with the OEM system. HD got this one right the first time for a change on the power provided.

I think the OEM CVO sound system has improved over the years. Infinity Kappa 62.11i's are 2 ohm like the CVO OEM boom speakers, but have a slightly higher efficiency so they should be a little louder. I had a set in my '08 CVO Ultra until I replaced them for something better. Infinity's are fairly bright speakers, yet clear, but do not have a great deal of bass. I'm presently running a set of Hertz Mille Pro 6.5's powered by a Rockford Fosgate T400x2ad amp. Sounds good, but like others have mentioned a larger amp is needed to produce bigger sound.

There has been many discussions on this subject in the past. Lots of choices out there. And yes there are better speakers and amp combos available depending on $$$. Good luck in your decision as there are many options.

Looks like OP was asking for a plug and play replacement that might work better.  I can't say I don't agree.

I am on my second replacement of an OEM Boom Speaker and would also like a speaker (if not better in sound) at least won't blow every time you turn around.

2014 CVO Limited - First speaker front  left died within a week, just now ordered a pair off fleebay to replace dead right speaker.

HD quality my A$$.

Just sayin'
