Antenna
« on: March 14, 2016, 10:28:58 AM »

Just bought a 2001 cvo Road Glide. I"m having a problem with radio reception. The reception is low, and when I disconnect the cable under the travel trunk that comes from the antenna on the trunk, it doesn't make any difference, so I know there's an open somewhere in the antenna cable. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on. Has anyone else had a problem with radio reception on their 2001. Is there any other splices in the cable other than the one under the trunk ? I'm thinking it comes directly out of the radio and the first and only splice is that one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is one long cable from the radio to the antenna mount.  There is a separate cable in the Tour Pak for when the T-P is mounted to the bike.  As far as I know there are no connections in that long main cable.  You will probably need to remove the outer fairing to access the radio end of the cable to run some diagnostics.  If you have the T-P installed, I would recommend testing the two cables separately.

Pull the fairing or headlights if you can pull them without pulling the fairing and see if the PO might have installed a hidden antenna and the one on the TP is disconnected up front.
