Anyone have experience with 2014 Infotainment and ESP?
« on: March 17, 2016, 03:58:23 PM »

Well, as luck would have it, my front right channel bit the dust on my 2014 Limited.  Speakers definitely not covered on ESP and having had the experience with a bad speaker when I first bought the bike, I figured I would get some replacements off eBay.

The good new was I got a brand new set (pulls apparently) of Boom speakers for $100.  The bad new was that the problem isn't the speaker.  I tried both *new* speakers to no avail and then jumped them to the left channel - they all (including my original) work.

As the ESP specifically excludes the speakers, I may be in luck here.  The ESP covers the "Radio" and CD, but makes no mention either way about the AMP.

Questions are (x2)

Does anyone know if the AMP would be covered as part of the "radio" and what do you think the likely culprit is?  Head Unit or AMP?

I am taking it my an Indy on Monday, just wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on the matter.  Wish me luck!

Regards,

Mark

IMHO the amp is part of the radio, whether it is internal to the radio chassis or mounted separately.  If the ESP contract doesn't specifically say external amps aren't covered, I'd say your problem should be covered whether it's the head unit or the amp.

I would say it is the amp Only because I just had my AMP
replaced under 2 year warranty for the same reason left
front channel no output. On my 14 CVO ultra.

Thanks guys.  That leaves me hopeful on both accounts.  I will follow-up when I get the skinny.

Follow-up:

It was the AMP.  It was covered under ESP.  BTW - left rear was inop, too.

My rt front amp was just replaced under warranty. Now I have no bass and treble control when I got the bike back.

Do you mean the control does not show on the
screen or that it has no effect.
