S&S T124LC Questions
« on: March 18, 2016, 01:36:23 PM »

Hello,

I am in the throws of ordering up a S&S 124LC crate motor for my old 2007 FLHTCUSE2.

I am trying to get myself educated on the options and which way to go.  The most confusing is that when I call S&S and ask them about the cam chest components I get different answers.  One time they say it is their proprietary cam-chest setup which can only be used with their ez-start cams period.  The next time I called they said it comes with the TC-3 forged cam-plate and 3 stage oil pump?

Are roller tipped rockers standard?  One time they say yes and another time they say no?

Anyone know for sure?

I will review past posts for throttle body recommendations and injector sizes later today.

Thanks!

I'd rather have a built Motor.  I've used S&S parts, still do, and they make quality stuff.  Especially their flywheels.  You're sorta' limited with a Crate Motor, whereas with a Built Motor, you can do what you want.  Yeah, it costs a little more, but if you can afford a Crate Motor, you can probably swing a Built one!  Hell, we only live once.....and you damn sure can't take it with you! You're obviously a HP junkie.  You'll be right at home here, with the rest of us!  Some of us here like to turn 'em loose!  Good luck in whatever you decide to do.  Later--HUBBARD

If I were doing it I would order the Crate Motor as SE Cases, then get the cams 585, blue oil pump and cam plate separately and don't have them install the hd ones listed so you just pay for those parts, plus you can get the Timken installed with the SE Cases.  They cant install them in the crate motor because it violates moco patent.   Yes you get roller rockers with it.

I wont do the T2 cases as I wont have an external oil line and if you have the line CnC'd so you have pass through like SE cases you void your S&S warranty and have to rely on dealer who sold you the motor for warranty.

I did the 124hc last June and around 11,000 miles ago and couldn't be happier. I have run it very hard without any issues at all. I figured it was under warranty for a year and I might as well go for it. It also does run very smooth (every bit as smooth as stock motor) just cruising around town in traffic when thats where I end up. Dyno attached.

Thanks everyone. Great advice.

I will do the SE cases with Timken conversion, roller rockers, diamond cut, tc-3 blue pump and cam plate with 585 cams.

Any recommendations for your favorite Throttle Body and injector combinations.

Motor will be a built motor.

S&S Throttle hog 58mm 5.39 injectors.   May want to get fully matched injectors from Marren.
