Pushrod adjustment
« on: March 19, 2016, 08:00:00 PM »

Ok need some help. I just put in a set of S&S premiums without the limiter kit. Using the SE adjustable pushrods which were already in the bike. Set the lash at 2 and 3/4 turns from 0 lash and this thing sounds like *****. Where do these things set up at?

Did you pump up the lifters full of oil beforehand? If not its going to take awhile for them to pump up..I set mine at 3.25 turns

Just putting them in a can of oil wont do it. They need the air pushed out. It will quiet down after a few miles. Sometimes its hard to find zero lash if there not pumped up though.

Lesson learned. I have the rear adjust to 3 1/4 now and as soon as I get the front set I will try again with earplugs...
Thank you

Thank you VANAMAL. Once they pumped up all was quiet.

Original HD lifters actually didn't look to bad once I got them out. 56,000 miles on them with a SE 260 cam and I was starting to get scared.

These were the 2 worse of the set. Not sure what version of the HD lifter these are but their life was about over.

Lobes looked pretty good. I didn't see anything on them that would cause me to change them. Was sure hoping I would...lol. That would have been all the excuse I needed to go ahead and pull them and the heads and slip the 24d's in and wait on Johns heads

I am surprised, would have expected the wear you showed to have transferred to the lobes.   Timing is everything :)

David,
Looks like you caught it just in time, you should go buy a lottery ticket
