Anyone have their seats modified?
« on: March 23, 2016, 12:39:53 PM »

I found a local leather shop that will carve out some of the foam and modify it for a taller Rider. Has anyone had this done, and is it worth it? My wife doesn't want me to get rid of the heated seat.

I'm glad I looked at this thread....I pictured a completely different direction for this subject.... ::) :huepfenlol2:

As for your answer, I have not but I'm sure others here on the site could direct you in the proper direction.

LOL, yes, that could have been worded better. It makes me wonder why you clicked on it in the first place  :P

Come to think of it, maybe I can have my "seat" modified, but I think plastic surgery is expensive.

I went from a tallboy seat to the CVO seat and can really feel the difference. I was hoping they would be able to get me close to that and still keep the heating elements.

I might give him a call. Alligator Bob is kind of well known in the area. I'm just not sure if he can do a modification since all of his stuff is custom.

What did you have done? I'm not even sure what I am looking for is possible. The tallboy seat is about 3 inches back from stock and sits a little lower. I don't want to lose the height but I definitely need a little bit more room behind me.

Bob did the opposite for me what you need, I needed my CVO seats sculpted into a reduced reach version. Bob did great work on all three I had him work on.
I'd recommend calling him to discuss.

If you are modifying for comfort and not for looks, I would recommend Russell Day-Long. Expensive? YES, A bit funkie for a Harley? Ya, maybe. Comfortable and gets you in the right riding position? Hell YAH! They modify and fit the seat to your specific buttisimo.

Don't let all the foreign bikes scare you. Here is a link to examples of Harley's they've done.

Those are cool. Reminds me of the wide police springer seats...

I bought a Corbin dual Tour seat during bike week and finally a seat that is good for long rides. It sets me a little back and down. This was my 7th seat on my new CVO. My wife sits lower as well. It is heated and looks good. Finally looking forward to our touring this summer.

Have used Corbin seats for 25 years.  Really like the seats. (Customer service SUCKS).

Just ordered my first Russell Day long seat. It's being made this week. Can't wait to try it. Goal is to be able to do the iron butt rally. (11,000 miles in 10 days.)
