Not being a English major, the only one I find really hard to believe is that no new animals have been domesticated in the last 4,000 years.  Surely something new has been domesticated in that time frame.

Well, the dragonfly claim is purely bogus. They can live for months. Now, MAYflies, on the other hand......

The $5 bill claim is/isn't true depending on how you parse the words. All the names are on that building..... But they're not all shown on the bill.

There are a lot more than the three palindromes listed.

Scissors predated DaVinci

Dreamt (and undreamt) is a British affectation... Most in the US say "dreamed" and but for the efforts of Jimmy Buffet (God's Own Drunk), most of us have rarely heard it.
Also: though they ARE talented, I doubt that many Chinese can reproduce while walking

I do not think all 50 states are listed on the back of the five.
They aren't. As stated above, the statement is somewhat true, but look again, there are actually *TWO statements.
"All 50 states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the $5 bill."
First part: "All 50 states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial".
That's *almost* true. They were all there at the time, but at the time "all" was 48. So, yes, "all the states' names of the time are on  the building. They are in the cornice at the top and run all the way around the building.
Second part:"The Lincoln Memorial ~is pictured~ on the back of the $5 bill." Indeed it is, but we can't see all sides of the building in the picture, so we can actually 'see' twenty-six state names on the five dollar bill.

These facebook/email list memes aggravate me a bit.  They are fun, they make us say 'wow' and 'I never knew' and 'amazing!'. Usually, though, they are full of falsehoods and over-generalizations.
I could disprove or challenge a dozen in this list from cat's ears to Churchill; anyone could with merely the magic that is Google... but we don't have the time or enough reason to go looking, so a bunch of this stuff just oozes into common acceptance and before long someone states one of these "facts" and everyone just nods. We don't have (or take) the time to even say "what?" any more.

I agree MrSurly. We tend to believe these items as if they are facts because it is too time consuming to investigate. Proof is in the statement of the Canadian flag. The flag on the back of the 2 dollar bill is not the American flag but the previous Canadian flag which had the Union Jack in the corner and the Canadian crest if the field. Was a fun read though and did make me smile.  :)
