Replacing DOT-4 Fluid
« on: March 26, 2016, 05:15:25 PM »

It's been two years since I bought my scooter and it's time to change the fluids for the clutch and brakes. The shop manual recommends using the Snap-On BB200A brake bleeder. Any suggestions and/or recommendations on doing this job?

It can be  done many ways, use something to suck the old fluid out from the reserror  like a large syringe let's say, than you also use that syringe filled with new fluid and a rubber hose attached to bleeder,  open it than slowly push the new fluid in making sure not over fill the reservoir, close the blender than remove old fluid, and repeat.

Or you can buy a clear bleeder tube with a check valve on the end.  One end goes over the bleeder screw and the end with the valve goes in a can or bottle to catch the expelled fluid.  Crack the bleeder screw and pump the brake to cycle the fluid through.  Don't forget to tighten the screw before removing the tube.  I prefer this method because I can watch for any air bubbles trapped in the system and I don't have to worry about overflowing the reservoir.  No matter how you decide to do the job, be careful not to splash any brake fluid on your paint - they don't get along well.  Be sure to wash any brake fluid off your paint immediately.
