s&s 106 hillide stage 3 heads woods 777
« on: March 27, 2016, 03:28:21 PM »

I am going to drop my bike off to Hillside cycles this coming weekend. I have s&s 106 with andrews 54 cams. going to have scott put stage 3 headwork on and use woods 777 cam. I am also going form vance and hines big radius to a dragos 2, 2into 1 exhaust with a 55mm hpi, tts mastertune II as a tuner. I am hoping for more oomph all the way across the board. Any thoughts??

The 777 needs some compression to work well, like 10.6:1.

Here is the verdict on my Hilllside stage 3 heads, woods 777 cam,55mm hpi throttle body, screaming eagle air filter, dragos 2 into 1 in an s&s 106. A whopping 119 hp and 131 footpounds of torque.

Well those numbers are outstanding for a 106 with a 777.

I can't read the sheet, a much better pic would help a bit.
It looks like a fairly deep torque dip (I'm guessing you could use some more squeeze) but some super numbers.
What compression did you end up with?

Great numbers! What causes the dip in torque?

Suggestion
Take the bike to another tuner, Hulten Speed Sports for example, for a check pull and request the result in "SAE correction factor", the defacto standard to compare dyno sheets on most of these forums.

I was left with a large dip in TQ and HP in the same area and can feel it kind of reminds me of the old Elsinore Honda's of the 70's. After the dip look out she takes off. I do agree it can be tuned out by the right tuner. ::)

Tuned @ Joe's Cycle?   He is the very best in the world just ask him.  I got sucked in once and these words came out of his mouth when it comes to tuning and I quote "I am the God of the tuning world".  My numbers were lets say overwhelming on an S&S 124.  Had it re tuned by Dave Stoddard @ Pocono Haley after he closed his shop.  Numbers were lower but low & behold it ran great and behaved very well compared to what I got from Joe.  Scott would do well if he distanced himself from Joe, but that has been mentioned by many knowledgeable folks on various forums for quite some time.

Yep the chart's really sketchy.
A 106 doing those numbers would be sweet.
The parts listed *even with stock compression* shouldn't make a dip like that.

Somethin' funky there

after riding bike, i find that i am unhappy with tune. If i am wot it rips like hell but only gets 20 mpg. if i try to drive at steady speed say 30 mph or 40 mph it seems like it lunges and isnt smooth, any thoughts and recomendations on someone else to tune. Ive beeen in touch with joes and we played with numbers and dont feeel after spending all this money i should have to do this and the bike is running very rich. also if i look at graph of volumetric efficiency of front and rear cylinder its all over the place. there response was its a custom map that doesnt matter, im no tuner but i think that should be an even flow

It's not surprising to see this report given the rep that guy has.

In your location I'm sure there are many, but I would HIGHLY recommend Dave Stoddart at http://www.poconohd.com/
