Driving lights opinions needed
« on: April 15, 2016, 07:32:09 AM »

I just bought a 2016 in Carbon Crystal with ghost flames and am thinking about adding driving lights. I can't decide if I want black or chrome or a combo of both meaning a black mount with chrome light housings. Any thoughts? If I go chrome on the light housings I don't have to o buy new turn signals but what's another $200 after spending almost $40k lol.

Adding more lights is always a smart move.  Whichever set you buy, make sure they integrate seamlessly with your '16's can-bus electrical system.
If you're going for the blacked out look on the bike, then I'd consider buying black housings for the lights.  If there are individual parts on the lights that are chromed, well...that's your call.  You will always have some parts on the bike that are chrome, anyway.
You haven't mentioned a brand you're looking at for the lights, so I don't know what you're thinking of.  Harley driving lights are nice, but IMO, there are better out there.  In the end, no one can make the call for you on which to go with.  The choice is yours.

Many of us own or have owned these and consider them first rate:

Here's another company that makes a very robust product:

I'm assuming you mean chrome light in the black housing. We added the black driving lights, with black lenses, we changed the blinkers to Custom Dynamics, and also spent the 400.00 for a new black headlight. Chrome lense never left the dealership in the bike. Price you pay. HD knows the black bike should have the black lights- but they also know if you want it, you'll pay for it!

You can't go wrong with the Motolights and they have a lifetime guarantee. I have used them for 14 years now.

If the light manufacturers can't tell you the performance of the light DON'T be a sucker and buy it.

They should be able to give you a measurement in lumens or candela. If they can't don't buy the product.

I have the Motolights. They are a very well made product but they will not provide much additional lighting for you to see.   IMO there sole benefit (which may justify the purchase) is to aide in your being seen.

ps They come in several finishes.  The polished aluminum made a pretty good match with the chrome lowers.  There was no need to pay more to chrome the housings.
