Installing Ohlins
« on: April 22, 2016, 08:15:37 AM »

Hello All,

Received my 159s for the rear, and I will be installing them this weekend.

Any other suggestions after installing them besides setting the spring pre-load, free sag, and ride height?

I have a 2015 RGU with stock 13" and plan on leaving the 159's adjusted length the same length.

Cheers!

Set rebound at around 10 clicks and adjust from there.

Set rebound at around 10 clicks and adjust from there.

I don't have my instructions for the 159s close by but I recall Ohlins recommends starting at 20 clicks and adjust from there.

And make sure to sue the top spacer washers.  We didn't install them cause it looked like it would throw things off, but when the guys in the Ohlins tent at Daytona did a check up of my setup he put them in and said they're there for a reason.  Once those guys really got me dialed in the scooter has never ridden better.

Make sure there parallel from eye bolt to eye bolt.

+1 on that one. Make sure you are straight and parallel between upper mount and lower mount otherwise you will have seal problems at some point due to side loading of the polish rod. Then enjoy the ride. One thing that could help you once you get them mounted would be take a zip tie and place around the polish rod, pull tight, and clip the tail off. This will give you a real good idea of how much travel you are using during set up
