2016 pro street breakout bassani 2 into 1 and tune question
« on: April 27, 2016, 07:38:54 PM »

I just purchased a 2016 cvo pro street breakout and I really want to change the exhaust to a bassani 2 into 1 road rage. my dealer told me that I would have to buy a super tuner and get it dyno tuned. now on my other bike a 2014 cvo limited I installed fullsac power cores and fullsac head pipe and the dealer did a Harley stage one download. my limited runs excellent and has all the power I need. is there any reason why the same download wouldn't work for my pro street? any input I could get from everyone would be greatly appreciated.
I know of some people that have put full systems on and never changed anything else and have had no problems. i just want to know what way to go with this. thanks in advance.

I guess they don't have a download for that. Plus, I think the 2-1 is more of a drastic change.

Regardless, the dealer download is like a band aid solution for getting the air/fuel mixture closer. There is no substitute for a proper dyno tune done by a competent, recommended tuner.

Yes, there is the extra cost, but some spend thousands on chrome, then don't want to spend like $800 for a tuning device and custom tune. Having a proper running more powerful engine is my first priority over look good items.

If you do go the route of a tuning device/tune, post up where you are from and someone will point you to the right guy. Once you find the right guy, then purchase the tuning device that he uses.

thanks for the reply north star. I totally agree that  a dyno tune is the best when attempting to get the best a/f mixture and peak hp and tq I am not concerned about hp or tq I just want to make sure I still have reliability. the stock 110 is more than enough for me I just want to make it sound like a Harley, not a Honda and I really like the sound of the road rage exhaust. so in your opinion do you think the dealer download would be good enough?

Lots of misconceptions concerning dyno tuning.
Actually recalibrating (tuning) the EFI system corrects for airflow changes (exhaust, intake, cams, heads, etc) through the engine and out the tailpipe. Anything that changes airflow changes fueling requirements. Anything that changes compression (static or dynamic) needs timing recalibration.
Most improvements noticed by owners/riders after a proper tune is: noticeable increases in smoothness, responsiveness, elimination of decel backfiring, and increased fuel mileage.
The power increase in WOT is just the cherry on top.

KNJ, post photos when you install the exhaust.  Call around your local area and find a reputable Dyno Shop and discuss this exhaust mod/install.  Good luck.

Sorry for the delay on posting the mod for the pro street. Put on bassani road rage 2 exhaust and Vance and Hines fuel pac 3 runs awesome and a huge gain in power especially on the low end.  I did not have it dyno'ed runs fine plugs look good and no popping. I'm not concerned with actual numbers.

That pipe looks great on your bike. How does it sound?  I like the D and D I have which performs pretty well.

Thx. I like it too. I went back and forth about whether I wanted chrome or black but I like the way it looks. Black would have looked good too. It's a well made pipe and it really performs well and has a good sound. Totally subjective.

kNJ, you are making it difficult for me to select an exhaust.  That looks great.
