Heat Demons issues.....help!
« on: April 29, 2016, 08:46:43 PM »

Called and left a message on Monday...no response from Heat Demons.
My window of opportunity to get a few issues sorted out is late this aft and this evening. I got the GDO fixed.....and the powered antenna eliminated...but still have the Heat Demons issue I'd like to fix before I close up the faring.

The problem: When I push the button (right side controller) 1/3 of the time nothing happens....1/3 of the time the first amber LED quickly flashes once.....1/3 of the time they first amber LED lights up and I can feel heat at both elements. I can turn them up 1,2,or 3 levels. After a minute to 2.5 minutes...they turn off.....the LEDs go out and heat quickly dissipates. then the same 1/3---1/3---1/3 scenario...unless I turn the ignition off...then on....then I can almost always turn them back on....for a minute or so.

I have the radio out for access to the center of the bars. The power wires that go to the left grip move smoothly....the wires that go from the left grip to the right grip and controller move easily as well. I am thinking there is an issue with the temp sensor on the left element and/or the controller is failing.
If it's parts I need....I'll be waiting.
I've heard the HD heated grips are very reliable now.

Any insight appreciated......

Had a truck with a bad element in the seat causing the same issues. Might be an element going bad. Not quite sure how to trouble shoot unless you take a resisitor and wire it in instead of the elements and see if it will stay on. Another thing could be the switch itself. How long have you had them installed?

Thanks...I try to check that out.....if it is that I think it would be the 'low' element as they turn off on all setting.Troubleshooting is cumbersome...gonna have to get some of the neat little connectors that Heat Demons supplied. I'll pull the grips and the controller off again one night this week.....
