New 2015 Limited CVO Front End Dive
« on: May 05, 2016, 03:50:22 PM »

I just had my new 2015 Limited CVO through its first service. The bike handles great, except when braking.  Do they all have that much dive?  Is there a way to firm it up?  I am 210 lbs. and ride solo with about 10 lbs. of gear.

I have not noticed the front end diving excessively. In fact it's the first bike I've ever had with abs or linked brakes and love it. Does it make a difference if you use front, rear or both brakes?

Also I recommend that you go to the new member introduction page and introduce yourself. I think you will get more replies to your other posts .

My '15 CVORGU did not dive.  It was much better than my '09 was when it was stock.  Assuming nothing is broken, the simplest and easiest "fix" is to try heavier fork oil.  After that, you're looking at suspension upgrades.  I went with Progressive in the front and Suspension Technologies in the rear.  Many have spent much more and there are many threads on such upgrades.

They do dive compared to a proper suspension. If you only ridden HDs all your life you might not notice it but if you come from a Japanese or German bike you will notice that HD suspenseion is very poor.

The rear air suspension on it is garbage and should never be on a bike. The new front forks are much better than they used to be but still not a good suspension.  My money is with Ohlins.

Carl has a good point with the jap to HD comparison.

Mine is a 2015 Limited and have no problem with front end diving while coming to stops, I had a friend that had a problem with diving when braking, one time while on gravel the front locked up and he went down, good thing it was a slow speed, turned out all his braking was from the front, rear were not applying, how does yours feel at slow speed and you only use the rear brakes?
Maybe there is a problem with the linked brake system.

Yes the front end dives one hard breaking on the 15 CVO Road Glide.  It is not as bad as the pre rushmore bikes.  On my pre rushmore bikes I upgraded the front end with progressive mono tubes the dive was so bad.  The 15 I did leave it stock with heaver fork oil.

The first mod was to get ride of the JUNK factory air shocks, worst shocks ever on a bike and weigh a ton.

My wild @$$ guess would be those bikes are built for performance and speed so they make sure they handle better. :nixweiss:

The linked braking system only works above 25mph or somewhere in the speed range.

Basic difference in philosophy.  Some attach more importance and priority to actual performance, whereas others attach more importance and priority to bling and style.  I'll leave it to you to decide which companies fall into which group.

I give my 2015 CVO Limited a couple a couple good squeezes with the right hand yesterday above 25 mph and below.  I didn't think the nose-dive was excessive at all.  Maybe defective front suspension or needs servicing.
