dOOd's fight with "CHROMETANIUM LEAKAGE"
« on: February 07, 2007, 10:33:48 PM »

Our beloved dOOderator has been diagnosed with "CHROMETANIUM LEAKAGE"

Does anyone know of a cure?

I believe TwoLane is setting up a non-profit tax sheltered slush fund to help dOOD combat this affliction.
Contact Don for donation information. Cash is preferred!

So if any of dOOd's post seem a little strange, please, yes please cut him some slack!

You help is appreciated!

CHROMETANIUM LEAKAGE is here and it's spreading!
Better get your boots on!

You are probably right. :o First time in a very long time I've been pain free in my hip. I'm sure it's because there is space and fluid between the ball of the femur, and the socket in the hip. :2vrolijk_21:

Gary,
Hate to spoil a joke, but if there was space and fluid in there, you'd be in major pain d00d. The new titanium ball rides tightly but smoothly on a nylon pad screwed to the titanium plate screwed into your hip. When the nylon pad wears out they do a small arthroscopic procedure to replace it. Same thing if there's any issue with the ball. That screws onto the clothes pin like section that extends down into the femur ( like a shifter nob LOL) The space in a natural joint is filled by cartiledge and meniscus, both of which were worn out and long gone on your old hip. The fluid sac you are referring to is the bursa sac and surrounds the entire joint to act as a cushion against external forces. At this point of your recovery, that sac is probably not full which is why the incision seems to sag inward on your leg. As you continue to heal that will fill out and you'll be left with a nasty scar, but it should be flat

Thanks for the update. :2vrolijk_21: You are correct I was describing what a "natural" joint should be. However I shouldn't have to worry about them going in there again. My joint consists of the metal ball, and metal socket. From what I understand the most longest lasting that they have now.

Just found a link to the apparatus they used on me (not sure this is the specific company that made it, but it shows the metal on metal new joint).

Okay, I know I was gone, but what the hell went on in that week?

You get a transplant and then send us to a site that describes the "apparatus" as: Easy Instrumentation, Sizes 46-64mm, Accepts heads from 36-54mm in diameter, "Biggest Heads in the Industry", Super-finished for tight tolerances, No rim flare........what the?

I thought you were getting a new hip :o ::)

Sounds like you need a firecrew standing by, that thing may generate some heat on a dyno.
