No pro's or con's, Look Over, just get a windshield that fits you and is designed to put the air over your head. But always look over.

If you're doing it right you're looking over.  Top of shield somewhere between your chin and your nose in whatever is your normal seating position.  That lets you see in the clear but all the wind, muck and most light to moderate rain is kicked up over you.  It's still high enough though that if you need to tuck down behind it for some reason you still can.

I  found that looking over the windshield is better when riding in the rain. Water tends to cling to the windshield, and I found myself constantly either having to wipe it with my hand in order to see through it, or standing up or leaning out to see around it. When looking over the windshield, all I had to deal with in the rain, was wet a face shield or glasses. Tall windscreen really does nothing in hard rain, except obscure your vision more.

Your experience may be different.

My 2 cents, the windshield should be low enough to look over in bad weather and yet tall enough to look through to block wind and debris from hitting you in good weather. In bad weather I also sit up straight tall anyway so I can easily look over. In nice easy going riding I slide down some, stretch my legs and look through the shield with no problems and no bugs.  That is just me.

My '09 had me looking slightly above the line of the windshield.  After several hours in the saddle I was looking 2 inches lower.  "Must have been a automatic elevation option."

I now have a '15 Limited SE and I sit about 2 inches above the windshield. Don't have any weather issues, but the bugs find me more often now.

If the windshield is set up correctly for your riding height, you can do both.  I ride looking just over the top and sometimes just below the top.  It depends on how I'm riding that day and weather.  The Clearview (or Freedom) are so clear, it allows for doing either.  Factory not so much, however.  It's the way I have ridden for years but may not be the way anyone else operates.  I like having the option of tucking behind the shield with no effort or looking over in the rain with the same little to no effort.

.....or, you could be stuck behind one of these..... :huepfenlol2:
