Ridgerunr, the Michelin catalog that can be down loaded shows the tire you mention as a load rating "80" which is 992 lbs rating.  Might check your size mentioned as my 2015 Ultra has 16 inch rear wheels but the Road King may be different.  Jake Wilson has a pretty good tire info site at   https://www.jakewilson.com/p/3791/34026/Michelin-Commander-II-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire

It does not appear JakeWilson shows all bike years and Commander sizes shown in the Michelin catalog.

I don't find a Commander II in the 180/55 B18 80H size listed on Michelin's web site.  Once again, I think some people are responding who have a 16" rear, not an 18" rear.  There is a HUGE difference in tire availability between the two rim sizes.  Last time I checked Dunlop offers an American Elite in the correct size, and Metzler also offers one.  Every other 180/55 - 18 tire I've researched is designed for smaller sport bikes and has a much lower load rating.

Jerry, I found his originally mentioned size as a new size in the catalog that can be downloaded from the Michelin site.  Its not shown on the web site or dealer sites.  I was concerned I'd never seen a late model HD touring bike with an 18" rear tire but I'd always ridden Ultra's.

Do you have a link to where you downloaded that catalog Ron?  I've looked on the Michelin USA website, but found no links to a download like they used to have on their previous site design.  Just running a simple internet search for Michelin and 180/55B18 80H only brings up obscure websites, some from foreign countries, of tire dealers.  I wouldn't be surprised if Michelin finally came out with this size, but at this point in time I can't find anything definitive.  The same thing happened with Metzler btw; lots of rumors and a few dealers listing the size months before Metzler actually released the tires and included them in their online catalogs.  Hopefully they will bring it out soon, as the more alternative choices the better.  Harley owners have been living with that monopoly way too long.

I found it in the "Fitment Guide" on the right side of the link.  Not sure where or when the new sizes are available.

Looks like their own web pages are not up to date as well as most dealers. Just happened to notice the fitment pdf and clicked to view it.  Part of my curiosity is I'm seriously considering changing to the Commander II instead of Dunlop when I replace stock tires this summer.  Have not decided yet whether to buy online and have an Indy install or have my dealer get them at a small discount and pay his shop fee's to install.

I just clicked on that Michelin link.

It recommends 2.5bar front and rear for both 1 and 2up riding. A Google check of 2.5bar comes out to just under 37psi. I've been running 40 in the rear and 38 in the front for my CommanderIIs. I guess I've been overinflating by a few pounds.

These are on the factory 16" CVO wheels on my 06.

Love the tires, and I have tried them all. Gonna keep with these for a long while.

Thanks for the link Ron.  Finally found it, and indeed they indicate a May 2016 release date.  Good news for all the 18" rear guys.

I'm glad this topic came up, time for a rear tire for me. Mine is OEM and cupped pretty bad as well. Think I'll try the Michelin, one of my buddies put a set on his bike last year and has been very impressed.

Jerry, I did not get too far down into the weeds with info on that 18 inch tire.  Looking through the HD fitment listing I did not realize so many touring bikes took the 18 inch rear tire.  Any idea how the OD compares to those of us running the 180/65-16?  By strict % of width calculation the 18 inch tire should be about a half inch larger diameter but tires don't always follow the straight % width.

in comparing the stock 16 inch tire, with the cvo 18 inch tire, I found that it does raise the rear of the bike 'just a smidge'.  the overall diameter is slightly less than 9/16'' larger (side by side comparison, with an almost new 16'', and an almost new 18'', so there is some wear to compensate for), so the radius would be half of that.

that is with the stock dunlops.  measurements may be different with the michelin
