Turn bike on, and lights on gauges flashing. Turn off, a few minutes later bike  able to start.

Then, when riding, song playing on IPOD info screen goes black for 6 seconds song stops and the voltage gauge needle drops below 10. IPOD song starts playing again/screen reappearst-minute or two later-same-song stops-screen black 6 seconds and voltage needle drops. Song starts playing again/screen back on/needle climbs.

Dealer checked and said not charging system and they are calling the factory tomorrow.

Any ideas. Bike had 5k service and this issue started 20 miles afterwards.

Thoughts?

What model and year bike are you talking about?  It's always helpful to include that information when asking about a problem.

Jerry,

2015 Ultra Limited:

Dealer has had bike 5 days and counting. This issue evolved less than 100 miles after 5k service. Waited 3 weeks for that 5k appt and a week later, back w/this issue and they are telling me I didn't have an appointment (gotta laugh at customer service) on day 5, and apparently only 1 person can call the factory for input?

Things happen, I get it. But dealer has yet to call the factory for their input so Im a little ticked w/Memorial Day weekend trip on hold, and someone who has purchased a bike a year from them the last 4 yrs or so plus all services.

They stated not a charging system problem.

Needle on start hangs just above 10 then rises to above 12, but when riding, stereo cuts out for 6 sec or so, voltage needle drops below 10 then rises again to around 12 or so. Repeats this throughout ride. They told me if this occurs-park the bike-I did w/them.

You are a guru, so perhaps you can lend an opinion or two.

I only noticed this occurring --voltage needle---when IPOD cut out. Thought it was initially another radio issue unt I noticed voltage needle correlation; however, a few times I started out to ride. when initially turning to ignition, bike lights and gauges flashing without IPOD even on-turned ignition off-waited a few minutes and could start it--then riding--above issues occurring.

***isearched this site and some state they had problem w/voltage and turned out to be wheel bearings?????

I wonder if there is a circuit breaker in there. Short heats it to trip point and cools and resets?

Verdict:

Tech found corroded wire terminals at the main connection for the body control module.

Glad he found it and hopefully that will fix the issues and you can continue with your plans for Memorial Day.

Very strange for a one year old bike to have corrosion on wiring harness connections to something important like a BCM.  Even if it's fixed, I'd still want to know how and why the connections became corroded and what Harley is going to do to prevent a recurrence.  You may want to chat with the MoCo yourself, and not just the dealership.
