Polaris buying again
« on: May 30, 2016, 10:38:55 PM »

Polaris is looking to add MV Agusta to it line up. They have dozen of world championships from the sixty and seventies. The name MV Agusta has the same appeal as Indian with the sport bike crowd With Polaris cash they could become another Ducati. They make some of the best looking sport and naked bikes

Uh, yeah.  Didn't work out all that great for H-D either.  Maybe Polaris has the answer.   :nixweiss:

I hope Polaris has a better plan than with their RZR Recall recently..Got home with mine & dealer called! The parts for the initial recall are recalled & faulty!

Harley Davidson tried owning MV for a while. They spent a bunch of money on new tooling and manufacturing improvements but never could figure out the sport bike market and ending up selling the company - they said at the time "the MV brand does not fit well with our core business".

The MV's are beautiful exotic machines and I wish Polaris good luck in their effort.

I think HD also wanted the MV's larger more powerful water cooled engine. They were/are nearing the end of the tricks that can be done to the air cooled platform to comply with the Fed emissions requirements and increase horsepower.

Would really like to see Polaris buy EBR (Erik Buell Racing). EBR has a couple of great models but desperately needs a dealer network, some deep pockets, and good marketing.
