street cannons
« on: June 11, 2016, 11:42:40 PM »

so couple weeks ago I purchased a set of street cannons for my cvo ultra I had Monster Rounds on it and they were pitting and looked ugly so I decided to purchase some pipes I heard at a local pipe night. I heard the Cannons on a couple 103"s and a trike they sounded good but I knew having the header pipe they would be a bit louder. I talked with the counter guy and he said in the book says not for 110 motors but then said to me probably a California thing just a tad louder. Well I put them on and 2 weeks later I pulled them off today they were very loud and the decal pop sounded like a Jake Brake on my buddies truck lol... We ride double 90% of the time and my wife was a trooper and never said a word but others we ride with suddenly rode couple hundred ft behind us so not wanting to put them ugly Monster rounds back on until I get tips rechromed I put the factory slip ons back on so its a lot quieter now sounds ok and a quick ride tonight on the bike I got a Thank you from my Wifey said the V&H ones were good but the Cannons made it to loud for her. Anyone else find this with these slip ons...

When a parts guy says "probably", stop right there and call or email the manufacturer and get the correct answer. But I think the bike you heard and based your decision on was also too loud at speed going down the road. Street Cannons, to me, are obnoxious loud, no tone, just loud noise and you just heard them at stop and not at speed with a load. IMHO.
Now a lot of folks will respond with I have had or used these for years and never thought this... or that... That is why I finished with IMHO.

Street Cannons have a large straight through core, sound application to compliment using the OE  headpipe.

The street cannons are pretty popular here in this region. I have tuned them in stage 1 form and stage II they do in fact work very well.. Even though its a massive large hole and would think no real baffle to do anything..  But the proof is in the tune and thus far I have to say they do in fact make one heck of a great curve

Steve,

The Street Cannons have a nice deep rumble when paired with the OE headpipe, I know this is subjective.... How do the Cannons sound with a Cat free X pipe? I would think the tone would change drastically with their large cores.  :-\

Well most of them have a after market head pipe on them..  I have done a few with cat and then a few with gutted stock head pipe. But most times when I explain to customer up front I will not warranty tune with a gutted stock head pipe they either have it tuned else where or swap to a correct head pipe.

I do not think its really that loud the muffler is really a odd duck.. It should be loud and have a massive tq dip however it does neither of those things.

Here is one with our cam ex was on it when it came in.. we added cam and tuned.  Made more power than I would have thought !!

stock engine same head pipe with Street cannons , another that made more hp than others  83-84 very common  85 on the odd one but 88 with stock cams  is impressive..  As I said it does not make sense but this muffler is one that really works well for mild builds
