It's that time of year in the foothills
« on: June 29, 2016, 12:14:44 PM »

Well, them dadburn June Bugs is feeling their oats again......its breeding time. Walk out in the yard and it looks like a miniature helo-port with the Junnies hovering seeking a mate. Nothing feels quite like a June Bug to the noggin at 70 mph. Can you feel my pain?

Yes sir, shore can.  Got hit once years ago (I was 19) running about 75 heading to Huntsville, AL.  Hit me dead in the chest, purt near knocked the breath outa me....had to pull over.  That was the day I decided to heck with looking "cool" and never rode another bike without some kind of windshield.  While dey doo hurt, Jimmy, they ain't near as messy as those "love bugs" down Florida way....

We just got over the cicada invasion, glad those bastages wait 17 years to come back. Killed hundreds between the bike and truck.

Caught a big June bug right on the Adams apple one time on my old Triumph. Just about knocked me off the bike, had to pull over and sit a spell to get over it then the darn thing came back to life inside my shirt, that's when I found out what it was. I must have looked like I was possessed by a demon trying to tear my clothes off on the side of the road! :vrolijk27:

:P  Had a simlar experience on my old Triumph many many yrs ago.  A bee flew into the side of my helmet and started stinging the side of my head.  I made a quick stop in somebodys front yard and threw the bike down and started slapping the side of my helmet to squash the bastard..........That had to look like I was a little crazy too. :nixweiss:

Not a June bug, but a Bumble bee in this story. Probably summer of 1970.
My friends Mike and Debbie were on their 750 Honda just outside town when a Bumble bee flew into Debbie's loose shorts and panties. She started bouncing around on the back of the bike and I thought she would fall off or knock the bike over. Mike got the bike stopped and Debbie stripped to nothing in the ditch. No bra, shirt and everything disappeared. Traffic was heavy that day, must have been 8 or 10 cars go by. We still laugh over that one.
Wish I had pictures. Still a good looking gal.

Surprised traffic didn't just stop :huepfenjump3: Hate when it's a Yellow Jacket, those bastages just keep stinging. I guess God forgot to put a limit on their stings.

"My worst hit came from some debris that am mower kicked up a week ago."

That comment reminds me of a good "tip" to keep in mind.  When passing a road side mower being used and/or passing one of those open trucks hauling grain/silage,etc.  It can be helpful to (close one eye)........the one furthest from the truck/mower as you go by..........So by chance that debris flys up in your face,  you will still be able to see where you're going.  :nervous:
