Lots of options are possible, like also combining the power lock option found on the 07's so there is only one connection from the saddlebags, instead two.

Chief

Chiefy, I for one would be VERY interested in that!  I have the power locks, the saddlebag spoilers AND the lighted latches, so I have three connectors to connect/disconnect every time I want to remove the saddlebag.

I think it's worthy of investigation. Can someone scan and post a PDF of the instructions for both the spoilers and latch lights? That would really help.

Chief, I don't have the docs any longer but the connectors for the latch light and saddlebag spoiler light are both simple little three wire inline connectors.  Latch light is ts/run/grd and spoiler is run/brk/grd if you've hooked them up "stock."  The grounds and running lights can be combined to bring a single connector for those two down to four wires.

Does anyone know if the harness to the power latches is just open/closed/grd?  If so the whole thing could be done with a single six wire connector.

I THINK that I still have them somewhere, Chief - I'll search tomorrow.

PDFs (sorry, can't do it except in 1xpdf per page!) attached for the latch lights, Chief.

Thanks FA and Eqcons. I just got the pdf's and will check them out.

Maybe now I can justify getting the spoilers, for R&D of course.

On both of the accessories, I don't see any way to disconnect the wire near the bag? It looks like in both cases, the wire runs from the bag all the way to either the accessory plug, or the rear fender harness.

Am I missing something? How do you remove the bags?

No, there are connectors for both near the bag, Chief.  For the spoilers, there's a Y-harness from the accessory plug that ends in two sockets, one at each bag.  For the Latch lights, there's a Y-Harness from the rear light connector under the seat that again ends in two sockets, one at each bag.

Thanks Jim.

It's probably all self explanatory when you have hardware in-hand, but just reading the installation instructions leaves me with lots of questions.

Anyone around Atlanta have any of these goodies installed?

Chief, assuming the products haven't been redesigned since I installed mine your descriptions are half right.

My spoilers came with harnesses that did have disconnects that would hang just inboard of the saddlebags (generally between the saddlebag and strut).  The few other sets of these I've helped other put on all were supplied the same way.  The last ones I did, however, were about 8 months ago.  So of course the harness design could have been altered.  The product was supplied with a harness on the lights, complete with terminated ends, that went through the bag.  You'd then just slide on the plastic terminal housing.  That connector than mated to its other half that was part of the intermediate harness you plugged in to the bike.

The saddlebag latches, however, were not supplied the same way.  At least when I did mine a year or so ago they weren't.  They were supplied with one long harness that went all the way from the light/latch itself to the mating point under the seat.  No easily accessible disconnect beside the saddlebag.

I just got another set of the connectors and terminals like those used with the spoilers.  Cut the harness just inboard of the saddlebag (same area as the spoiler connectors were) and made a quick disconnect there.  So both the lighted latches and the spoilers have disconnects right next to each other.  Since they were the same plug I just made sure the m/f was swapped between the two so each could only plug in to it's own connector.

They must have changed them 2L.  Mine came with a Y-harness.  You disconnect the two halves of the rear light connector under the seat;  One end of the Y-harness has the mating male and female for that connector, so it acts as a breakout from the main harness, if you see what I mean. The other two ends of the Y-harness go down to near each saddlebag, and they have a female connector on there.   When you fit the lamps, just like the spoilers, they have pre-terminated ends, which, after you get them out through the hole in the bag, you push into the male part of the connector, which then in turn connects to the mating female.

I guess they must have changed them quite a while ago - I got mine last April or thereabouts, and that's how they were.

This is perfect Jim, and the best answer possible.

Now, I have one for you. Are all of the connectors used Deutsch connectors? If so, they should have a part number like DTM04-3P or DTM06-3S for the 3 connector pieces.
