If you have an avoidance, say ferry or unpaved roads it will route around any of those. Check interstates, are they avoided?

It does not convert exact route to bike. It uses destination and waypoints as highlights which are given to bike and those are used to remap route. The more points used will get you closer to your actual planned route.

Try Garmin BaseCamp. Little

Found this YouTube video to be helpful.  Agree with bakon, each system is recalculating route based on points and preferences so more points the better.

Best way to use Ride Planner:  enter a starting and ending location.  Then use waypoints to adjust the route the way you want to travel.  Be sure to drop the waypoint on the correct road, and not on a side road (only way to ensure this is to magnify the route for a close-up).  Use as few waypoints as possible.  There is a limit on how may waypoints that can be used, but don't recall the number.
Also, once you've save the route - if you want to go back and edit the route you can't move a saved waypoint...it must be deleted and a new one created.

if you're saving the route to a flash drive and downloading on a Rushmore bike, Beartooth HD had a great tutorial on how to do it.
