Anti reversion cones affect on tune?
« on: July 11, 2016, 04:12:50 PM »

Hi all,
I'm new to the group so Hello to everyone. I have a 2012 CVO Ultra that had some engine upgrades performed prior to me purchasing the bike so I don't know for sure what has been done. A recent dyno tuning session produced 113 hp and 118 ft-lbs so it's likely a "stage 3" upgrade. The bike has V&H Powerduals and monster round mufflers. I'm happy with everything EXCEPT very loud reversion noise from about 2200-3000 RPM range. I'm considering anti-reversion cones, so I have a couple of questions, 1) Are they likely to have much affect on the noise? 2) Will they have much affect on the current tune?

Describe the "reversion noise".   Is it an intake or exhaust noise?  Acceleration, decel, or cruise?

Intake, on accel or cruise really comes on abruptly right 2200-2400 rpm and disappears just as abruptly around 2800-3000. I'm also running a very open PM round air cleaner. The sound is very similar to a piston knock sort of a hollow rapping type noise. The tuner did modify the baffles in the monster round mufflers and that seems to have really increased the noise. It does seem to be coming from behind the air cleaner.
