Parts Falling off!
« on: February 10, 2007, 07:07:59 PM »

We had a great ride w/ the Savanah HOG this afternoon. Meet at the dealership then went to lunch in Statesboro, GA. When we came home I noticed that the right passenger floorboard top was missing  :( >:( >:( >:( . What gives? :zwtf:

The set screw is still there. It seems that the part was not attached properly. Shouldn't this be covered under my 2 year warranty?????????????

It is the Ironside collection. They only sell the whole assambly.

AJ...glad to hear you had a good ride to Stateboro...did you get the Blues? ;)

Obviously, those fasteners were not properly installed from the factory, so I would insist, in a nice way, of course,  that they replace it.  A bolt is one thing...I had one fall off my muffler clamp when I first got the bike, but that footboard should never have come off, IMO.

Based on a few reports here it makes sense to check the rest of the bike as well. It appears as it may well just fall apart as many parts are not propersly installed!

Good luck with getting it done under the waranty!

I'd be the biggest PITA my dealer had EVER seen if some chit like that happened to me.  They need to cover that.  Not only is it an assembly QC issue, it is also something that should have been checked on PDI......so harp on your dealer.  Be annoying if you have to.  Persistence pays.

Well Savannah Harley came through. I just spoke to the service manager and he said that he thought there shouldn't be a problem covering it under waranty. It really makes me feel good that they would honor this and stand by their product. AJ

Good news! Would make sense to look through the rest of the bike to see that things like that do not happen in the future.

or...... you could take my approach, and replace almost every bolt you can find. At least that way, when stuff starts falling off, no one to blame but myself.

Its great they are going to stand behind you. My right side board was just about to fall off after just 100 miles on bike there were no nuts on the bolts. After that checked alot of fasteners on bike and found both pass pegs loose. I guess everyone needs to check there bolts. You would think that would be done at factory. I THINK NOT. :(

Yes check those bolts. You will also find out that is why alot of folks on this forum do their own maintenance, so it is done right.

I already spoke to my local dealer about checking all things.  Would not be such a big problem since I plan a few upgrades straight away - pipes, shocks etc.

However, an unacceptable assembly quality.  >:( Really surprised such a product has such a back QC.

Make sure your tool box has plenty of Lock - Tite in the drawers, when ever I get a new bike, I go over most of the bolts and add Lock - Tite.  Especially the shifter arms & legs, had them fall off.

napalm, this is my first brand new bike. Never thought I would have to go back over the assembly process.

Welcome to HD!!!!  I found so many bolts loose on my 2006 SEUC, I was really surprised.  Even found out that the wire for the CB Antenna was never hooked up at the factory...Hardware was laying loose under the tour pack liner.

When I got my '07 SEUC, I went over it with a fine tooth comb!!!!  Didn't really find any surprises, which was a good thing!

Can't wait to ride!!!!!!!  Snow & ice yesterday!!!
