Extended bags and short side pipes
« on: July 22, 2016, 01:11:10 PM »

Is this dumb looking?  I have extended saddlebags but love the sound the "Big Radius" from V&H makes.

Anyone have a similar setup?

Bike looks are relative to the person doing the looking.  What matters is do you like that look?  If you do, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about it.... :2vrolijk_21:

I'll answer your question if it were me looking at that bike and considering that option (and my last CVO was the Ruby Red in the picture...).  I would be more concerned with what those pipes would throw up on the front of the bag and how loud they were on a long trip than the look.  I do think it looks like something is missing due to the rear curvature of the bag formed specifically for the factory pipes.  Just my observation...

There are other bag options out there that would eliminate the space left by using different pipes and we have a wonderful vendor on the site that can paint exactly to the CVO colors, xtreme dimension:

For me (as Haird mentioned) I would have to do something with the exhaust opening at the rear of the bike. As it regards the pipes I have see many baggers with similar style pipes and also with 2 into 1 (w/o a falsie) so it's a personal decision... if you like them go for it. :2vrolijk_21:

In one word......Yep.

You have to ask yourself.....is "noise" more important than the "look"?  Therein lies the answer.  :nixweiss:  In my teens and early 20s it was the sound but with maturity age comes the look and then it's look & comfort!  :huepfenlol2:

IMHO those pipes look good on some bikes, say a Breakout, but not at all on a bike with saddlebags, extended variety or not.  I'm pretty sure the original design was created for the bar hopper style bikes, not touring models.

Ultimately it all comes down to what you like, and if you are the type to let what other people think bother you.  You might start a new trend that the bike mags will rave about and plaster on their covers.

I love the pipes....but personally I don't like the look on the bagger--especially with those bags. But again, if you like it who cares what other people think!
