Top ten reliable motorcycles
« on: July 23, 2016, 09:43:13 AM »

Just found this on another site, didn't think Harley would beat out a Goldwing.

;D   Uh, did you bother to actually read the spiel about Harley's?  EVO's?  When was this tripe written if the author thinks everything is an EVO?

"almost all Harley motors since 1984 are called "Evo." That includes all modern Sportsters and the Big Twins, including Softails, Dynas and Touring models."

Must be caught in a '90's time warp.

Uhhh.....I think it was written a decade or two ago.

The sub title "Worry-Free Wheels" caused a great deal of skepticism as I begin to read.  A few things made me question when it was wrote but then I got down to the HD blurb...under...."Modern Harley Davidsons" the writer says things like "In fact, Harley-Davidson's rate of problems is less than that of all the European brands, including one brand that has a reputation for trouble-free reliability".  BMW has their issues but to my knowledge (viewing their forums) nothing like HDs.

The writer goes on to say "Talk to the Harley-Davidson faithful, and they'll tell you the "Evo" motor is the way to go. That's pretty vague, since almost all Harley motors since 1984 are called "Evo." That includes all modern  Sportsters and the Big Twins, including Softails, Dynas and Touring models" which tells us that this was wrote many years ago....during the days of the Evo motor which was a good, reliable motor compared to it's predecessors (shovels, pans, knuckles) generally speaking.

This article has been regurgitated by motorcycle.com purely as filler.  Interesting that they don't even give credit to the author that originally wrote it....I assume to give the false impression that it's new. :nixweiss:

Kind of like all the political propoganda that both parties have been posting....this is should be intended purely for humor and entertainment and not to be taken seriously.  Having said all of that.....it's must be true because we read it on the internet.  :P

When my wife saw the title of that article she said "It certainly isn't yours"  -- I told her that you have to perform the required maintenance because stuff wears out, like lifters, cams, compensators..........
