Pushed my bike "2010 SESG"out of the garage Saturday, it had sat for about two weeks , Battery was dead and I mean dead, put the battery charger on it in fast charge mode , nothing happened! so I did the jump start mode, after the countdown to ready, ignition on, run switch to on, fuel pump runs , wait.... hit the start, not even a grunt!!!
Ok battery is shot, made a dash to local HD shop, bought new battery , installed it, bike fired right up , WOO HOOO !!!! were going riding, HMMM wait a minute only the dash mounted tweeters were playing music from the radio, thought maybe I left a wire off of the battery in my hurried installation , took the seat off ,checking wires all are hooked back up, found an in line fuse blown AAH HA I found it...... nope , tried to install new fuse popped it right away, tried another fuse popped it too instantly. OK bike is running charging gauge shows good, so we went for a nice long day ride, without radio .
Took outer fairing off today, and found one of the speaker wires had rubbed through its protective coating against the amp, that's mounted on top of the radio, thought I found the problem , tried to install new fuse again popped it too...... disconnected all wires from the amp except for hot and ground still pops the fuse, when I disconnect the hot wire from the back of the amp, fuse holds, but as soon as I hook up the hot wire to the amp the fuse pops....
I think somehow the amp has shorted out , due to the speaker wire rubbing through.
What do you think? Any help and or advice would be a blessing!!
Thanks
